The Sweet's Fox on the Run started going through my head, but (fortunately) it isn't the same song.

Went youtubing and found a cut of this one by the Country Gentlemen and another by Emerson & Waldron I like a lot. What surprised me was learning it had actually started out as a ballad first played by Manfred Mann in the mid '60s.!

Nice song. Can't help being curious (nosey!) about what might be the subtext behind post--but no doubt the same subtext everyone has had or will have. Classic making universal ache etc. stuff!
Have you heard of Eilen Jewell? Have been listening to her new "Letters From Sinners & Strangers," past little while. Really good.
