Soooo.....

I am not ignorant and I didn't realize that asking for help was being rude. My bad.

Anyway, I have already got the 2008 Novel and Short story writers market book as well as a zillion other books all about writing and publishing, and blah blah blah.

I have a Query Letter
I have a Synopsis
I have a manuscript (edited several times)

I would like to have a copyright, which I'm not sure how to go about getting.

I would like some help as in: hey do you know any particular company or place that may be seeing the type of novel I've written : Because it doesn't exactly fit into any kind of real common place genre.

I don't want anyone to call a friend who knows a friend who can get me in. I wasn't asking for that. I expect to succeed because I work harder and I don't give up. Not because I get naked on the internet. If you except that then you know nothing about me and you have no right to send me rude email.

That said.

I guess I'll research it all my damn self.

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice. I appreciate it. You rock.

Gonzoe is a writer and has a degree in it even. Ax him.

My Mom is a writer. But that won't help you. Unless your book is health related, non-fiction.

Good luck.

PaulNikon has a good idea. I would Ax Gonzoe, Ask him even. And this is more than a get naked on the internet site, I think of it as more a social network site that has good art. There is nothing wrong with asking someone for help, because it is a hard thing to get into. If they are rude etc then ask someone else who isn't.

Yah, sorry if I misspoke, "it's kind of horrible" was referring to "the process of getting an agent if you don't already have one." It's really hard. Get ready to spend a lot on postage.

Copyright, though, is easy:

According to writers I know, the key is finding a literary agent. If you can't get an agent interested in your book, you won't be able to get a publisher interested.

Check the Literary Marketplace (LMP) http://www.literarymarketplace.com/lmp/us/index_us.asp for agents that might deal in your kind of writing. You have to register for free to see names, and you have to pay to see details, but you can also probably find a copy of the printed book in the library (they have it at hcplc.org).

God luck! Finishing a book is a huge milestone. I hope you get published!

Unfortunatly, it's one of the few areas of business that I have absolutely no experience with, otherwise I'd be so glad to help drop some bread crumbs to help you find the path.... The only advice I can offer, simply based on reading a few biographies of writers I respect, is that you have to believe in your work and your self... Never, never, never give up or get discouraged, even if you get tons of rejections at first... I'm sure that it's much harder to break in than it is for anyone who is a published and "branded" author...

I suppose that the one pretty cool thing is that you're at least likely to have a pretty good marketing base here on SG... Between your direct friends and all the networking any of us may do, once you do get the break I would guess it's an asset that so many 1st time authors can come no where close to...

I would also think that these days, there are probably a number of options for self publishing and gorilla marketing online....I'll try to dig around a little and if I come up with anything usefull, I'll let you know...

Congrats on completing it.. You're already so far ahead of so many aspiring writers.....
