I don't know that you will ever (in the near future, at least) get her totally out of your head. She is the recent past. But, you can continually remind yourself of how she is the loser in this situation (the one who lost AND the one without redeeming value). You don't have to feel "pity" for her necessarily, but realize that she is going to have a really hard time making it in life simply BECAUSE she is so fucked up (and tries to fuck up everyone else as a means of making herself look better, even if only in her own eyes).

So, in summary, don't worry about her. She's screwed up. You can still make the best of YOUR situation.

I think your boyfriend has a responsibility as the one who, however inadvertantly, caused this mess, to tell her what he's told you. My ex-wife made life pretty intense for a good long while (she is fairly notorious) but it was only when I had the courage to spell out the situation that she was able to accept that we weren't together. It helped me and it helped her. Maybe if your partner is clear with her about why he's with you, she'll understand that you're not the 'new girlfriend' but something more. For your part, I think a dignified silence and aloofness will suffice - this is a temporary phase for the woman, but its important that you don't allow yourself to get dragged in and dragged down in the meantime,
