I mean, it's pretty trashy, and has the romance between the a human and a vamp at its core - but it's Twilight with balls... there's no bullshit pussy vampires in this series - it's all bad-ass vamps. More like buffy + sex than twilight.

there's plenty of hot young naked boys and girls, (so everyone is happy). political machinations, violence, gore, suspense. There's a nice dark sense of humour in the series as well.

I think it's because Alan Ball (6 feet under) is at the helm, so it could have been much worse in the hands of another director/producer
