So when I was at the concert last week I brought two cameras. A film camera which I had set on a tripod and my digital that was around my neck.

Well the " event photographer" came up to me after the show to ask me why I was shooting film. He didnt think I would get anything. Well I have something to say to him. tongue My black and white prints surpassed my digital ones by light years. He should have a little more faith in film because if you get something its always far more beautiful then digital.

I devoloped some of my film yesterday. It turned out pretty great. ( except for the dust spots.)

The darkroom at my school has a lot of dust in it and gets dust on my negatives. Girrrr.

I want to try and drive myself crazy, so my next set I want to do in scanned black and white prints. It will take a long time but the wowness effect might be worth it.

I love shooting in black and white film; there's something so nice about knowing that you've created every aspect of a photo, start to finish.. smile

All I shoot is film, and it's going to be a long time till I buy into digital.

Scanning a set from the negatives doesn't take as long as you would think though. Just takes a little patience and good dust blower biggrin

Hi! I just saw your post in SGSac. I might try to hit you up on that photo offer sometime when I'm visiting.

Where do you go to school? Sac State, American River, Sierra? I went to ARC for two years before moving up north to go to Humboldt State. Never hung out in their darkroom though.

i agree with you - with even good affordable printers b&w photos don't come out anywhere near as well as good b&w film prints. but if you take them to a professional print place they turn out much better. if your shooting for internet/computer screen, digital cameras can do as well as scanned film. glad to hear you still use a darkroom!

Darkroom time is definitely theraputic... It's been a while since I've been able to spend a lot of time making prints. frown

If you're making prints to be scanned, test a few first. The scanner won't render the contrast the same, so you will need to adjust for it in the print stage if you want the final scans to look as good.

Hope it works out though. It would be awesome.
