I've been traveling and painting, mostly. The last thing I finished:

zoom image
Untitled (so far). Acrylic on canvas. 24x36”. For sale!

After years of focusing on photography, I’m trying to get back into painting. When I was in school I didn’t have a chance to develop a style, so now I’m experimenting with some calm, simple-looking pieces. My plan is to start slow, stick with this series, and see how it evolves.

I'm feeling a lot better these days, and I think it's because I've been avoiding my computer. Somehow I have to catch up with emails and photo-editing without going back to feeling shitty. I think a stand-up desk might help. I want to make some changes though. Photography is a desk job most of the time and it makes me crazy. Hopefully I can start selling paintings so I will do it less!

I've also been trying to follow less blogs and things, so that probably means I'll be removing some of the people I don't know from my friends list here. I really can't keep up anymore, so I end up not reading any blogs at all. I'll still reply to comments when I can though. smile

you really should explore all of your creative impulses, but please don't give up on photography - whether it's here on SG or elsewhere - you really have such a remarkable talent with the camera. Whatever you do, I wish you the best and hope you follow your art and talents wherever they may lead you.

yeah, I hear ya on the "photography is a desk job" statement. who ever would have believe that, years ago, but alas, that is so true. For every 3 hours I spend shooting, I probably spend another 10 or so on pre-shoot planning and post shoot editing, and client hand holding.

Glad to see you picking up the paint brush again. kiss

That's just great that you got back into something that makes you happier in this point of your life. Good luck with it, and do what works best for you.

I know exactly what you mean. Audio work is my day job and I've found that I can't come home and use this as my art outlet anymore. Funnily enough I've found myself moving towards photography. smile

That's beautiful. Considering how stunning your photographs are, I can just imagine how well you paint. It's nice to have more than just one artistic niche. I'm glad things are good for you.

Your creativity and skills continue to amaze. The Making has worked out for others before. If there's a point in the 'artistic oeuvre at all' it might as well be that of 'the inconspicuous - time lag - serendipity' producing it! Great to follow your work!

The colors are impressive! It's like a digitized sunset behind a green mountain range.

I totally understand how the computer sucks your life away. I have to work at spending way less time on the internet, only allowing for the necessary emailing and image editing, not losing hours to surfing. There are days, however, where it's a relief to be a computer zombie because I don't have the energy to dedicate to a painting.

Looking forward to seeing more paintings from you!

That is a very beautiful piece that you have painted. Not to get your hopes up because I am financially in the red right now, but how much are you asking for your work? The trouble with art is parting with art in exchange for commerce, and that is the thing I admire most about people who use a medium, that can not be reproduced like a photograph can.

I would love to see this piece up close. It looks very tedious. Did you tape off the squares?

So far. Not a bad title. Great work, I feel calm already from looking at it.

great painting.. i like the use of muted complimentary colors next to each other.. it has a nice buzz to it.. it buzzes, but it doesn't smack you in the face. Nice.
