Hi my lovelies! love

I've been busy with many things as usual. I can't imagine just sitting around doing nothing. Must keep moving and shaking I say!

Part of the busy-beeness has to do with the fabulous new man in my life. He keeps me entertained and on my toes. And then the other half, and more consuming end, is what seems to be my never-ending quest to find a steady job.

I just went in for an interview at a salon this wekeend for a receptionist position (after 1600 hours of school and 2 years working in a salon, and waiting for my test date after repeated hiccups at the State Board Offices, I can only reeeally, leagally apply for a job that doesn't involve touching clients until I am licensed!). At this interview I was informed that I was 1 of 12 applicants chosen for an in person interview out of 188 email/resume submissions! He said he wasn't at all surprised by the number of emails received due to the continued state of the economy. I can't help but feel as if it's almost worse than before. I am definitely Scared of it becoming an even deeper and bigger holey mess...but before that happens I'm absolutely determined to get a job almost anywhere as long as it's somewhat related to any of the fields of work I'm interested in.

I hope you all are also fantastic and keeping busybusy! I've been doing my best to spend a significant amount of time with my niece (She's going to be Snow White for Halloween!), friends who I haven't seen in some time, and working on my writing and plotting for burlesque domination! *enter villainous laughter*

She likes to smell her toes...

So I decided to see what all of the hubb-bubb was about!

In recent news...

I was invited to the premier of Born Villain, a project between Marilyn Manson and Shia LaBeouf. Manson told me he absolutely didn't want the work they did to be considered a music video because it is/was supposed to be a trailer for a documentary type of short film they have been plotting....then at the event they introduced it to the invited audience as a music video. So I'm not entirely sure if they are using the rest of the footage they captured or are planning on working on it further. *shrugs* Met his new bassist Fred a week or so before the Born Villain evening and when he saw me at the Silent Theatre he grabbed me up and said "It's great to see you, you look gorgeous!" which was quite flattering because seeing as I had only recently met him , and god only knows the whirl wind of people he meets now that he's involved in the band, it was lovely to know that I made an impression. He's seems like an awesome guy and I'm looking forward to adding him to my list of "New Friends". A couple of weeks earlier I popped by to say "hello" and talk music with the boys before heading out to my best friend Cody's birthday, which just so happened to be a convenient few blocks away from the new place. I previewed the new album and totally gave them a couple of critiques. It sounds great, by the way. The music is a bit of a call back to some of Manson more harder, rock-styled aesthetic and you cannot deny the smartness in how simple and cutting the lyrics are.

You can check the video for Born Villain here:

I also went to the last night of Club Suicide to support our friends Miss Antigone, the handsome blackcentr, and Mr. SilverJimmy.

Went to New York for 4 days and 4 nights. My man went out to New York for 6 weeks to establish a presence in the Big Apple (he does Voice Over work and is fantastic. Just wrapped up things for a Discovery Channel spot on Steve Jobs which is going to air tonight at 8pm Pacific time. So if you are interested in Mr. Jobs you should check it out and tell me what you think!)
He mentioned early on in the trip about his interest in me coming out for a visit. Since we had just started dating in August, and he left for NY in September, I guess he figured he would miss me a bunch. I told him I needed to find a job and get some business taken care of before I made any plans to fly across country on what would be a mini-vacation, and wouldn't you know the topic was brought up again and he insisted that I come out for a visit. That being said, I flew out a week later. It was lovely.

I hadn't fully experienced NY for more than an afternoon really so I was quite thrilled to think about being enveloped by the city for a few short days. Mostly we kept plans fairly casual as he is on call, doing auditions, or recording sessions during the day. Did some museums, a walk in Central Park, saw the movie Drive, and toured the Empire State building at night. I even had a day where I was able to check out a salon I was curious about in the West Village called Whittemore House Salon. I walked right in, asked if they had any stylists available for a blow-out and 45 minutes later I walked out with fresh hair primped by a young stylist named Reagan. She was very sweet & efficient. I would definitely recommend checking out the salon if you are in the area...or you can even check out their website: http://www.whittemorehousesalon.com/

And to continue the girlyness for the day, I mean you cannot deny the necessity of having your nails in proper form when meeting new friends and hitting the town!, I went to get my nails done at what was supposed to be "THE" nail salon on the Upper East Side called Nails+Spa Sakura: http://nailspasakura.com/new/
The location wasn't as tidy or "new" looking as the images on their website (which needs an organizational revamp) and yelp made them appear, but I had heard so many rave reviews I had to give them a try. It wasn't the best nail job I've ever experienced, the technician who was appointed to repair the one nail I had broken and repaint and add a single 3D art design was quite rude and practically ignored me when I asked her a few friendly questions, but all-in-all she did a fairly good job. I will definitely be sticking to doing my own nails.

Here are some images from my skipping around the city:

When I came back from NY I had told Miss Antigone, that I would shoot a Multi-set with her. The photographer who shot us was Seahorse who was very professional and just a generally easy-going young man. Overall the shoot was definitely good fun...how could it not be with one of my favorite girls and a couple of Death in the Afternoons??
But I mean, not only was it a good time to roll around nude with a lovely lady, but it was quite a bit of fun in a very teasey-sexy way for a variety of goosebump inducing reasons.
And because I drove out to shoot at Miss Antigone's new beautiful house, she and her hubby graciously offered and asked me to stay the weekend. I guess technically that just extended my "vacation-mode" an extra two and a half days. They wined-and dined me, and let's just say the beauty of that weekend could be summed up with: rising in the morning (whenever it was that I woke up) and hitting their outdoor hot tub with them in the nude. Each morning. I mean, how can you resist that and a fresh cup of coffee or mimosas in the hot tub on more than one holiday weekend morning?

This is a little teaser from the shoot. I put it together on my iphone for fun so please excuse the lack of complete continuity:

A candid shot taken of the shenanigans. She was very excited. I had sparkly burlesque underthings on...and she took the image with my phone and I couldn't find it in my photos!

Come Monday afternoon/Tuesday morning I went back to the average reality of job hunting and interviewing.

I recently was hired by a newer friend and colleague to do Make-Up for a Music Video directed by the lovely Jessica Sanders for the band "Family of the Year". It was a total 6am Santa Monica/Malibu beach shooting day. 60's themed and right up my alley.
Overall the shoot was great. It lasted a bit longer than scheduled, but that is usually no surprise to anyone who has worked in the entertainment industry for any sort of shoot or event.

Here's a couple of links to some of the music/video work the band has done that I give 2 enthusiastic tassel twirls to:

Jessica was also awesome. You should totally check out her stuff too!

And here are some photos Jessica, one of the photographers on set, and I took (I recently updated my iphone and I think it hid most of the pictures I snapped somewhere on my computer *sad face*) :

I was also booked by an actress friend of mine to do her hair and make-up for a promo trailer she is looking to pitch to HBO or Showtime called "Life is Short". It's about a therapist who is a sex-addict and ashamed of being a "little person". And it was absolutely hilarious. She is producing it all on her own, wrote the script, did all of the casting, and generally speaking is such an inspiring individual. I've admired her since I met her in the theatre department in college. To be more specific, after seeing a couple of her performances I stopped her in the hallway and introduced myself to her and told her I absolutely had to say hello and tell her how fantastic she was in each show. It's been a lovely hetero-romance ever since smile Even though she tells me all of the time she has a crush on me. Such a character.
You should definitely check her out. Her name is Nicole Gerth. And wouldn't you know, her "motto" is "Size doesn't matter when you've got GERTH!"
My friends are all nuts I tell ya!

She had a hilarious dream sequence with one of her "patients" Let's just say he verbally compared his penis to Mufasa atop Pride Rock. rofl

There was also a "pot bunny" moment written into the script because of this little fellow

Even more exciting....
I think I'm going to go with a recycled classic Halloween costumes this year considering I never actually worn it out or to a party. Which oldie, but goodie did you say? Why, Elvira of course!
The only time(s) I was Elvira for a day was when I worked a one season at a Halloween store and in 3rd grade. My dad made the costume out of a black, men's XL turtleneck and they totally put me in a black, rocker mullet wig (I thought the outfit was FABULOUS, but what did I know? I was 8 years old!) I'll try to find the picture for comparison purposes for the next entry for sure. tongue

Hope you enjoy this medium-length novella!
And as a cherry on top I'll even leave you with some silly pictures

What are you all dressing up as for Halloween this year and how are you planning to celebrate?
Whenever I go out to parties I always bring candy & condoms to give to everyone. It's always best to be prepared and safe I say! kiss

Happy (early) Halloween!

That was long, and lovely all the way through. Glad to see you doing well as ever.

The work thing I sympathize with. Last downturn I set out more than 100 resumes per interview received. It was a rough year. This time I've done something far stupider and plowed what cash I had into a project of my on. Stay foolish, as Mr. Jobs did say..
