There are many videos on youtube on how to fix this thing yourself, but none of them show you how to take it apart first to fix it. The secret is there is no way to take it apart without completely mangling it. So those videos are all pointless.
The point of the videos is to convince you that you can fix it. So then you have to have it repaired, or buy a new one. Why do you think AAPL is priced so dearly in a structural bear market?
That's the case with so many Apple products...need to dremel it apart or use flat blade screwdrivers and razor blades then electrical tape it back together. If you had the older style T shaped adapter there was a class action lawsuit settlement that allows for a replacement adapter up to three years after you bought the computer. The picture you posted is the newer L shaped one which is unfortunately not included.
If you're trying to find a less expensive adapter you might have success finding a gently used one. Unless you've got a MacBook Air it doesn't matter if you buy the T shaped or L shaped one, and it's OK to get a higher wattage adapter than the one your computer came with (ie you have a MacBook and got the 65 watt adapter - either the 65 or 85 will work as replacements). This article on Apple support explains everything and all the terminology if you're confused.
Make a casting of the outside before you take it apart then you have the size and shape for the cavity in one of your silly owls for the new case for after you mangle the outside of it.
If you live near an Apple Store, try taking it in and asking if you can get a replacement. I've had two that needed to be replaced and was able to get one of them replaced for free just by asking.
