Hello hello everyone!!biggrin

I'm so glad I get to be on the site more often now cause we just got uncapped internet at home!! FTW!!biggrin
All this time, I've been having to go into town every so often to use the internet cafe and it's SO uncomfotable going through nekkid pics with dozens of people around looking at me like I'm some kinda pervert. Not to mention how expensive it was getting. Yes yes, I know. Such admirable dedicationwhatever

A few things today.

It's just something that's really resonated with me. As people, we've all made mistakes in life. Done things we truly regret. I think it's just refreshing to know that doing bad things doesn't make you a bad person. Just a wiser one. It's a great reminder that nobody's perfect and so we should stop chastising ourselves for our mistakes. Foget about your dark past and focus on making a brighter future. That's the message I hope people get when they see this tattoo. And that's the message I'd like to be reminded of everytime I see it.

Studies

This year has promised to be very grueling on me with regards to my studies. Not work-wise. I've never had a problem with studying, I love soaking up new information and I come from a family of nerds lol
But with regards to content, I find myself struggling pscychologically. I'm becoming more and more distressed after study sessions and it's only the beginning of the year.
Most of my subjects are a walk in the park and I'm enjoying digging deeper into the dynamics of my chosen proffession but I have this subject called "Sexual Trauma" that I battle with.
The name speaks for itself. It's one thing to just read through it but now to have to memorise and internalise it. Wow, people are sick in this world.
I'm starting to rethink my specialisation because I'm not sure how well I'll be able to deal with this field of counselling on a daily basis. Just something to think about.

If you've led a relatively normal life, just take this moment to be grateful. For your friends, your family, your past experiences. Because those simple moments you took for granted. Something as small as a family dinner around a dining room table. Some children have never had that. Some children fantasise about having something like that.
Just the fact that you grew up with parents who love you and relatives who didn't abuse their positions of authority over you, be grateful.
I tihink we take a lot for granted. And it's not until you see how fucked up some people's lives are that you realise how good you have it. Excuse my language.

Okay so it’s been a while since I said anything smart in my blogs. I figured I’d take this moment to reflect on a few things…

Why is it wrong to be fat?

So the other day my mum and I were talking and she asked me why girls get so upset when someone calls them fat because she don’t get upset when peolple call her thin.
On the surface, this is a very simple statement but it really got me thinking.
Why is it so wrong to be fat?
People are different. Fat is a simply statement of fact. If you’re fat, you’re fat. If you’re thin, you’re thin. So what’s with all these negative connotations? Who exactly decided that thin is in? Because, personally, I don’t see what’s so great about being thin. I don’t see how it’s added or detracted from my life in any way. Say I suddenly put on a couple hundred pounds. Would I overnight just become a different person? Would my fundemental makeup change in any way? The answer is just as simple as the question. No.
People are people. Our weight shouldn’t, and doesn’t, make us who we are. It’s a person’s character that makes them unique and special, not a scale reading.
So that’s my pearl of wisdom for the day. Love yourself exactly the way you are. Fuck what other people say or think. Though I guess I’m preaching to the choir here. Every girl on this site is unique. We are a collection of over 2 000 reasons why mainstream beauty is deluded. That’s why I love SuicideGirls so much. So let’s inspire change. This constant fixation on body image is getting kinda old.

I get these girls telling me how much they look up to me and how much they wish they could be like me and what I tell them is: “Don’t be like me. Be better.”
Be the best version of yourself. Don’t try to emulate someone else. Think about it, everyone you wanna be like isn’t trying to be like someone else. They’re just being who they are. That’s what makes them so noteworthy. If you live your life trying to be just like someone you look up to then you’ll never be anything more than a cheap imitation.

5. Straight Edge.. Almost..

This year, I managed to stay sober (no alcohol, drugs, cigarettes or sex) for a total of 10 months. Not exactly the 12 months I was aiming for but consdering I was drunk everyday for 8 months straight last year, this was still pretty impressive.

White lilies represent purity and virginity. A lot of people have asked what happens when I start having sex, to which my smartass reply is always
"Well then I guess I'll be screwed"

But, in all honesty, if I DO lose my virginty earlier than expected (which is seeming more and more likely due to emotional circumstances beyond my control) then I will have them tattooed a diffenent colour. Simple.

Yes, I do cut myself. Occasionally.

I was just going to let it slide but I recently joined the Self-Harm group and I realised that some of the other SG's also cut and aren't ashamed to show their scars and that gave me courage also to admit that I do battle with self-mutilation..

Nobody's perfect right?
But, if there's anything I've learnt from it, it's to cherish your life cause it's the only life you've got.
