Almost a year ago today, I was participating in an alternative pageant with Tarion. I was all giddy because I'd never seen a SuicideGirl in person before and she was (and still is) my absolute idol

Anyway, whilst in the dressing room, I was spotted by the roaming eye of Talamia who immediately ran up to me and began selling me on the idea of becoming a SuicideGirl..
At the time, the very idea was laughable.
Growing up as a shy and socially awkward teen, being a SuicideGirl became the epitome of womanhood in my eyes. I fantasised about what it would be like to have the guts to do something so brave..
I mean, when I was fifteen, piercing my ears was the pinnacle of rebellion to me.

So there I was, four years later, having someone trying to sell me on a dream I'd been holding for the entirety of my adolescent life.

So I mumbled out some ill-formed excuses about not having proper photo's to submit and Talamia in true Talamia fashion, whipped out her camera right there, and took aphoto..





And so I applied.. I didn't expect much of it..

But, within two hours, I was accepted.
Shock of all shocks..

Still, it was all too good to be true. So I kinda dragged my feet through the application process..

And then, when I eventually got round to shooting my set, and saw the pictures.. I was SO stunned.
It was extremely surreal to see an image of my face attached to a SuicideGirls watermark..

It took me back to the days when I would Google images of SuicideGirls and daydream what it'd be like to be one of them.

And now. I am.

Some girls dream of Broadway, of Hollywood or the Academy awards.
SuicideGirls was and is my Broadway stage.

So, again ,thank you.
It's still sinking in..

Yesterday, one of the girls accepted my friend request on FaceBook and I was jumping up and down going "oh my God she's talking to me and she's a SuicideGirl !!"
Until my brother looked at me like I'm crazy and said:
"But.. so are you.."


Firstly, to the powers that govern, thank you SO much for choosing me out of hundreds of other girls who are just as equally deserving of this opportunity.
You're in the business of making dreams come true..

To the other South African girls, thank you for the endless support and encouragement.
I feel like I'm FINALLY getting to sit at the "cool table" in the lunch room..

And, of course, to everyone who commented and voted for my set.
You guys and dolls have no idea how much this means to me.
Thank you for believing in me.
I feel smothered with love

A lot of people have asked me what I'm going to do now that I've achieved my goal... And if I plan on calling it quits..
And naturally, my reply is

"Are you kidding me?? This is only the beginning. From here, the only way is up!!"
