It's cold outside, so much so that I cannot tell if my laundry out on the line is dry or just frozen. I have been wearing more layers as a result and then having to do even more wash as a result of that. We are funny creatures of habit, aren't we? So methodical in so many ways, sometimes the strangest. When the seasons are changing especially it always reminds me of this. Speaking of, I haven't been able to find all my scarves and sweaters, but I know they are buried somewhere in the back of my closet. I just know it, they have to be. I'm enjoying the hunt. It's the best part of anything anyway isn't it?
I love the fall. I mean I'm just crazy about it. It means winter is just a hop and a kiss away and worth waiting for.
In other traditions of the changing of seasons I am brewing a big pot of moose-basil stew as I sit here writing to you. I wish I could somehow attach the smell to this blog post. It is absolutely divine. It smells and feels of home and my father humming in the kitchen while standing over the hot stove.
I miss home around this time of year, but change is coming and new homes will be made.
I had a house guest this weekend. We've known each other for almost a decade and met on the internet when we were almost children. It was great to be around her again and listen to all her stories she had to tell since we had last spoke. She hasn't changed a bit and I can't stop thinking about how nice that is.
She took some rather silly photos of me I will attach.
This is a cabin on some new property my family just purchaced. I cannot wait to see it in person. Isn't it so beautiful?

Bourbon is another thing I love in the fall and harvesting. I am explaining this to her as she secretly photographs me without my cardigan.

We also found this while thrift shopping. You tell me.

This is a recent sketch my friend did of me. He's reading Dante's Inferno, you see what I am getting at.

The hunt is on.

I wish I was berry picking on the tundra right now with my sisters.
Please, tell me your favorite fall memories/traditions.

The cabin is indeed beautiful
as are other things here;
&
moose-basil stew?
+ a fondness for bourbon?

I adore all things Autumnal: The color; the scent; the leaves; my wool blazers and sport coats; the borderline suicidal frenzy of the squirrels; cider; but probably, most of all . . .
the light.
(or ,being able to cuddle together, again finally, under the blankets - - yeah, that's probably the best of them all.) smile

Fall memories? When my grandpa had a house at Saquarema (a seaside town), we'd go spend weekends and holidays there sometimes. During the fall, I liked going to the house's yard playing around the fallen leaves. That was many, many years ago, I was a kid back then... 7 to 9 years old, probably.

Loved the pictures, the cabin sure looks great. One of the things I've always wanted to do is spend 3 or 4 days in the woods in a cabin like that. Sadly, cabins like that are hard to find over here...

it has been way to cold for this time of year, it has felt more like winter then fall!

I've never heard of moose-basil stew, does it have real moose in it, where would you even get moose?

It is always good to see old friends that you still get along with.

That is a really cool cabin, I bet it would be fun to play in, what state is it in?

Those are cute photos of you.

Give it a try, it's really simple. Hell, I think I'm the only person ever who has managed to stuff up that recipe. confused

Hey Jane! You look awesome in your pictures. I'm really curious as to what moose-basil stew tastes like now!
