Even if the theory of the standard model isn't correct it's just as exciting; being proven wrong in science is sometimes more satisfying. Sure you've just spent the last 30 years working out a theory that's not correct but now you've got the chance to start all over again and the new solutions you'll find have the potential of being so damn beautiful.

Hey Higgs (aka the "god particle"), they say it may take 4 years to prove they found you... but we knew you were here all along. But even if you didn't end up as the fallout in the bottom of that atomic collider, you are still a theory.... and that is more than most!
