Yesterday I heard about "Google cars" (or something like that) in Belgium. Apparently there are four of them in our country but I don't know exactly where... I hate this idea. Are we all animals? Are we going to a life near from Orwell's 1984? I'm really wondering.

They're snapping pictures for something called Googe Streetview. They claim people's faces will be blurred out.

Newsflash, honey. We're already living in '1984'.

It's called google streetvew, and I don't see any problem with this, as people's faces and car plaes will be blurred. It's like 3D maps, no problem with this, it is even useful. And it has been existing for more than a year everywhere in the world now.

Google Map's Streetview is actually an amazing thing. I don't think it has much to do with Orwell's 1984.

Considering how many places have CCTV cameras recording non stop, I hardly think Google streetview is something that really is going to get me worked up. It's like getting caught in someone's photo, except that photographer is google. While I understand your concerns, if you're worried about living in a surveillance state, there are bigger fish to fry.

Google Streetview is very handy. I'm not sweating it. They are just pictures of the street, not constant video monitoring.

I saw one yesterday. it was in traffic outside the movie theater when we came out. If it was filming it got us since we were standing there for as long as it was waiting in traffic.

I'm with you, 1984 all the way and those CCTV cameras are fucking stupid I can't believe we as a society haven't attempted to prevent the continuous and progressing surveillance by most "developed" countries. Do your part and throw the biggest rock you can lift at every CCTV camera or stupid "google car."
