I have a hard time writing a blog because everything seems so profane and unimportant compared to what happens in Japan. Every discussion ends up there these days and all my thoughts always come back to the topic. I check the news every hour.
My hopes are high that Germany finally abandons nuclear energy. If not now, when?
Last Monday was a demonstration after a solemn vigil. 4000 people participated in my hometown. I remember Chernobyl in 1986. The voice from the radio told us to stay inside and keep the windows shut. I was sitting on the windowsill in the kitchen. Staring at the sky I tried to see the cloud and wondered how nuclear particles might look like. I just could not believe that they are invisible. There must me something different in the sky, maybe something like a silver gleam, I thought. It was very unsatisfying to spot nothing and I was very concerned about the health of my beloved grapevine snails down in the hedge in front of the house that I fed every day, because I was not allowed to have a pet. (Later my parents bought me a hamster, because they where sick of all my alternative-pets. I even had a wasp for quite some time that I feed with sugar water.) Then we were not allowed to play in the sandbox anymore and my parents forbade me to eat wild strawberries or any other berries. I always used to go in the woods with my granddad for mushroom hunting when I had the opportunity to spend time with my grandparents during school holidays. It made me incredibly sad that this would not happen again for a long time. I loved to spend the day in the forest and my granddad knew so much about all the different plant and animals. When we came home with all the tasty mushrooms like ceps, parasol, bovist, chanterelle and many more, I used to clean them with my grandma and than she prepared them for us. She fried them in butter with salt and pepper and an egg. My all time favourite was the parasol, because it tastes like schnitzel but is no meat. My granddad tried to grow mushrooms in the hut behind the house then.
I grew up with the fear of a nuclear disaster.
Now it might happen. It is time to stand together, help and support wherever we can and it is time to abandon nuclear power. Once and for all.
My birthday was nice, Creide came to visit and we where drinking and partying for three days. I still have no pictures, but I will post them as soon as I get them. It is getting warm outside and I can smell spring in the air, the first flower start to bloom.
In April I will make a trip to Istanbul with Lavezzaro, the flight is already booked and I am super excited. It will be my first real holiday in a long time and Istanbul is a city where I always wanted to go to.
Those pics where made with a selfmade pinhole camera, enjoy:
