When they decided to change over the newswire to the new format, I was honored to be kept on as a columnist. It's called "Awe and Wonder" because those are sentiments appropriate to the contemplation of the universe. I'm still a geek and culture writer and will still cover science and high weirdness, except now I'll be delving deeper. Check out my first proper column, "How Gaia Got Her Groove Back", which deals with the intricate relationship between science and faith, particularly through the lens of spiritual ecology. If you find Rosicrucians and/or environmental issues to your taste (or even if you don't), please let me know what you think. I love reading your comments.

My friends TheFox and LittleFierceOne got engaged this weekend! Because nothing feels quite as bizarrely sweet as a good, old-fashioned journal bombing, y'all go congratulate that super-fabulous, ultra-gorgeous couple on the happy news.

That's the excitement around these parts, really. For me it's all lattes and literaturas latinoamericanas these days, apart from traveling when I can get it.

Oh, and impersonating tyrant lizard kings.

Oh, and getting naked.

Thanks to Brooklyn for ruling it and to oyaji for the location, the tea, and just generally being wonderful.

Lots of people focus on the tail and the teeth and pelvic tile and the pathetically small brain and completely forget about the one element by which impressions of T Rex live or die. Sissy arms. You've got kind of zombie arms going on there, but I'll award sissy points for the scarf. Kudos!

Glad you're still contributing, though my comment on the Gaia piece probably won't fill you with warm fuzzies. It's a rare dissention, however. I look forward to your next bit. Cheers,

Hooray for well-wishes from random strangers! I have been telling everyone I can think to tell... short of harassing cashiers... oh, wait. No, I did that, too. So, yeah, I've been telling everyone. The more, the merrier!

And we should definitely get together, but apparently my immune system decided to give out on me and I have developed a crappy cold. Not "nasty," yet, but rather inconvenient. So it should probably wait until I'm feeling better. What are your weekend plans?

I'm going to avoid napping and homework to be all girly and look at wedding gowns, even though I'm positive I'll wear a less traditional dress. It's just fun to do wedding stuff.

I found your article today and had to go back to studying before I read it. I'll fix that in a few minutes.

Very funny picture! I love that museum, I have a spot of nostalgia for the dinosaur rooms and the blue whale room with all of the prehistoric fish models.

I enjoyed the piece, I look forward to them. In this case, you've given me a few more sources for something I've only been thinking about for ten years. Thanks.
