i feel so terrible, i drove drunk last night. nothing bad happened, but im really against that and i dont even remember getting home last night. i always preach against drunk driving, i dont drink very often so im usually the one that steals keys from people, and i just did the exact thing that i hate. i knew people who have had serious shit as a result of drunk driving, i dont care about DUI, i mean i do, but i really care about my safety and the safety of the people around me. i feel like i just broke a promise to a friend. i didn't, but i have that feeling of disappointment in myself. or maybe thats just a hangover. hm?

The best you can do now is learn from your mistake! I've done it too and also felt like shit afterwards. But no one got hurt, right, so you got away with it. Just don't do it again. smile

Stuff happens. Live and Learn. Two rights can make a wrong. Drink responsibly and take a designated drinkerÂ….

Don't beat yourself up if no one got hurt. Just don't do it again.

Remember, every time you drink and drive an angel gets AIDS.

Take care

Confession is good for the sole. We're only human and sometimes we make the wrong decisions. It's good you made it home safely...don't fret about it too much. It's not that big of a deal. kiss

I've been through this very same situation. The advice everyone's giving is not untrue: don't get TOO hung up about it, however...

You're right to be upset with yourself. It was, unquestionably, a mistake, and a potentially grave one. What happened deserves some real thought and review. Letting this go too easily is a mistake, if not a "moral" mistake, then certainly a practical one. If you simply let this experience slip through your fingers, down into the ether of your subconscious, instead of taking a hard look at why you let yourself do something you're so against, you're robbing yourself of the impetus you need to grow and learn from this.

The bright side to this approach is that after you've taken this hard look at the facts of what happened, and thought about exactly *how* you'll make sure it doesn't happen again, you'll feel better. Much better, in fact, than just the temporary palliative effects of telling yourself it's all OK, because part of you would know it *wasn't* OK. Getting resolution like this lets you actually let it go, instead of pretending you have.

Also, to make sure I don't sound like a total asshole (or is there no helping that at this point? ;-) ), please keep in mind, these aren't moral marching orders, but simply some practical advice. The only reason I'm even making the suggestions is because you seemed very concerned with what happened, and the unnecessary suffering from hiding from problems is useless. I'd hate to see someone else have to make the same mistake I made several times before learning the lesson. (I was extremely fortunate to learn it *before* something awful happened!)

Anyway, good luck, and be well!
