SuicideGirl: Feyne

Not sure if I want to leave permanently or if I should just let my SG account as it is, activated, and wait for a year or two to see how things go here. I may choose the second option and remain silent for a while. Seems somehow hypocritical though. And I hate hypocrisy.

SG has become one big, big paradox to me.

I wish it was a place where women would be allowed to express their opinions openly and say out loud:

I know who I am.

This is who I am.

I embrace it.

I know who I am not, and I am not the product of my society.

I have no complex. About my body. About my opinions. About my life choices.

I am free. I didn’t let anyone condition me to believe in the shitty things the society wants me to believe in. I am free from the education my parents gave me, from the prejudice, from the system telling me what is beautiful, ugly, good, bad. I am free from you – who see my naked body on the Internet – and from what you may think of it.

No tattoos or piercings involved here. Values, only.

Isn't SG supposed to be a place where difference and pride in being different prevail? Does it celebrate alternative beauty and way of life of women from all over the world, as it says it does?

All I personally see today here is the celebration of professional photo retouching, professional quality photography and the race towards perfect, flawless bodies in perfect, flawless sets. This is not me.

Questions:

Are over-retouched photographs helping in redefining beauty?

How cosmetic surgery could possibly be compatible with alternative beauty?

Which leads to the hardest one: how digitally manipulated photographs of surgically retouched girls could convey a positive message on alternative and redefined beauty?

Then you should feel free to express who you are.
No one or nothing should have the means to suppress that.

If they try, and you let them, they win.

Is that what you want?

loveThere is a lot of retouching going on at SG now. Youre right about that. But then there is also of creatiivity from folks like you. I love the stuff you are doing and you will be missed if you leave. But I think that SG must be a stage in one's life. Maybe you are just ready to move on to bigger things, been there and done that is allright too. I hope it spring boards you to something really cool and better than you can imagine. I am one of your biggest fans. love

your one of my favorites by far....because of the simple fact your sets have been just you in all your natural glory, and that's what i like mostkiss whatever you decide...i will still be looking at your pictures in the years to comewink

the amount of photo shopping and re touching sg does disturbs me, girls that are gorgeous and perfect to begin with then seem to get edited to within an inch of their lives....to the point i find myself saying 'nope..not for me' but sadly these sets still seem to be popular to the masses...so who am i to argue, that being said there is still many many very good sets and photo's done with very little retouching and some truly beautiful hopefuls coming onto the scene.

i do think it is time for a change to sg though, the look especially is getting dated,

i hope you'll decide to stay around. i agree with your points regarding the changes in sg. it seems the rough edges are airbrushed out, if you will. however, there remain those who posit the kind of difference you're about. i've always enjoyed how even and intelligent you and your sets represent. sg is better with you here. peace.

At the risk of looking like some kind of sycophant, I must agree. I have been coming here less and less for precisely the reasons you list, Feyne. There are still pretty girls and beautiful women now and then, but the selection process seems pretty out of line if the goal is to celebrate "alternative" beauty.

If you do move on, please remember that you represented your ideals consistently and with integrity. Best wishes for you and your studies! You truly are my favorite Suicide Girl.

SG is like a book .
You can throw it away if it's not what you like anymore.
You can close it, put it aside and come back to it later (what I did).
You can also write your own pages and make it better, ignoring what you don't like and sharing with people you like. That what Flux, for instance, chose to do when she came back.

But whatever you do, nobody will throw you the stone. Integrity is the most important thing.

I say to just be you. That's why I'm still around.
I prefer the blogs that are real and filled with more emotion and creativity than just another collection of boobs, not that there is anything wrong with seeing plenty of the female form, but where's some extra brain behind it all? After all, just as you said it's about the creativity and artistic viewing of the ladies.

While there are sets that are re-touched and girls that have cosmetically enhanced themselves in a variety of ways on top of my preferred love of that which is natural I could never discount some of these ladies because there are a few that may have changed a few things about themselves but they're still awesome in person. I guess I'm not one that should properly judge any of this... seeing as I tend to find the beauty in almost all that is posted in the way of sets from the perfect to the perfectly imperfect and I also tend to be here more for the socialization aspect so I could care less if SG stopped sets altogether, but as a brain looking for another brain to hold conversation with and maybe become inspired by I still roam around the SG-webs to see what's out there. So I do agree with you on some of those points and perhaps see some of the points from a different perspective, but that's what makes us who we are, right? Then again I wouldn't have it any other way.

All I can say is that I hope you continue on your own path without giving in to anything for anyone. Whether you stay or go I hope you will always remain you. You're awesome and I know I'll always drop by to see some honesty as long as you're around. I guess it's just that everyone is into something different and expresses themselves differently. My word and thought is that of my own, though, but I hope you know I'll always appreciate whatever you bring to the table on this site in blog or photographic form. As long as you're honest with yourself then I'll be glad to hear or see what you have to say about yourself. smile

You are right, with the bigger inflush of hopefuls they are picking the most "comercial" beauty and leaving the alternative to second plan, it's sad but seems to be what they are aiming for...

Hope you don't leave permanently however, you are and always will be one of my favourite SG's. kiss

Hope everything else is well.
