yeah, happy new years. it's a time to really appreciate what you can be happy about.

Sorry to hear about your friend. It's true that these days we only see the tragedy that we're shown on TV. We sometimes aren't aware that tragedy is often just around the corner. Hopefully we'll all take time this year and realize that if we're healthy, sheltered, and safe and that our loved ones are too, that we are luckier than we often feel like we are. Hopefully we can take the time in the new year to spread whatever happiness we find.

thats the way of a world a constant neverending cycle of sadness and joy, waxing and waning. We don't see it so we don't notice it exists. But, when faced with it it shows you just how mortal we are(Im really invincible so it doesn't matter) Its a sombering experience when you hear of thousands upon thousands of people dying it seems unheard of..like something that should cause the world to stop moving, everyone to stop and cry...but thousands have died before, and the world continues..we can just remember them..respect there memory and enjoy are lives because eventually it will be our turn. and hopefully when it is people will stop and notice and remember instead of letting us fade into the wind....(notice the invincible part so none of this applies to me.)

I think it's wonderful that you have the compassion to feel for others. Sometimes it seems that no one feels anymore... myself included. What happened in Asia, and whatever happens in the rest of the world that we aren't informed of, are not in our control. We can but take a moment to feel sad for those unfortunate people, and reflect on our own lives to be more appreciative of the things we take for granted. We are very lucky. ciao ciao.
