I think whatever was making me sick was just a one day thing, thank god...I feel much better now, thanks everyone smile

On Tuesday I saw The Gathering in NYC with Steve, Enid, her boyfriend Mark (also Steve's brother), and their roommate Mike. We got there kind of late but it didn't really matter because the opening bands we saw weren't that great, although the first band, Foxy Shizam, did have some funny tactics...the keyboardist had disgustingly long chops that made him look like the wolf man or something, and in one of their songs he took out what appeared to be a pair of deer legs and started hitting himself with them and screaming. Earlier on, the lead singer talked about how he went to the bathroom in high school and couldn't find the soap. It was certainly interesting. Peelander Z put on a much funnier show though when I saw them in March.

I will say something about The Gathering...first of all, Steve is way more into them than I am, though I really dig most of their music. (Admittedly there's a song or two I don't particularly care for.) Secondly...it was a pretty great show, though decidedly too short. The room we were in was rather small so the sound wasn't as good as the first time that Steve saw them last year, but it didn't really matter to me, I was pretty much spellbound the entire time. Anneke's voice is like slow, sensual sex for your ears.

Steve and I found an apartment at a place I used to live at when I was in temporary housing...it's about 20 minutes walking distance outside of Center City but there's a free shuttle that takes you into the city, which is nice. When I was living there, I really enjoyed the atmosphere a lot, but last night I was reading some bad reviews that's making a little apprehensive about moving in...people have complained about mice, roaches and....eep, bed bugs! I admit when I lived there, I did have roaches that liked to hang out on my kitchen counter early in the morning, despite it being clean, but using bleach on the counters solved that problem. Also people were complaining about how they'd have problems with things in their apartment and they'd have to call three or four times before someone came to fix it, and that nothing was ever fixed right. I'm wondering if maybe I just got lucky the first time and was put in a unit that was in good shape. I e-mailed the woman in the leasing office and asked to see the exact unit we'll be staying in before we sign anything. I want to make sure there's nothing seriously wrong with it, and that if there is something wrong, it will be fixed before we move in.

Our move-in date is June 2nd, which is a little inconvenient for me since I'll be drawing close to finals by then but there wasn't really any way around it...oh, also, it's a studio apartment, which kind of sucks because there was a really nice one-bedroom available but it was sort of out of our price range. God, I can't wait to get out of school so I can get a REAL job that pays more than minimum wage and be able to live someplace really nice.

Wow, this is the longest thing I've posted in awhile.

Oh, I never did mention, I ordered a bunch of clothes for myself off my wish list and they're fantastic. Perhaps I will take pictures and post them later.

One last thing, one of the sets I shot recently got accepted, whoo hoo!

Time for breakfast....and coffee!

Damn, over two dozen albums. I really have to start paying attention to more than movie soundtracks again. Her voice does sound nice, but I suspect being a Highlander fan is why I listened in the first place. I wonder if there's a particular album I should start with to see how much I really like them...

Hurrah for accepted sets.

Good news about the apartment - and insisting on inspecting it before you move is an excellent idea. smile
Yay for new sets, I hope it gets queued soon. biggrin
"Anneke's voice is like slow, sensual sex for your ears." - an apt description.
Most importantly, I'm glad you're feeling better. smile

Oh the excitement! I promise if I find any roaches I won't put them in your hair while you're sleeping.

And Rebel was nearly the same size as the main stage in The Knitting Factory (last year), but it also had two floors, and we managed to stand right at the front of the balcony.

Then mention of the wishlist brought a thought to mind: if the problem with it is that you'd have to give out your address (though there's always the P.O. Box route), why not make an arrangement with a local hot topic to have it shipped there for you to pick it up? I'm willing to bet that they'll dig it, all things considered. Just sayin'.

that there's a new set en route is all kinds of good, but that you're feeling better's even more good.
(that just seems grammatically wrong, but alternatives aren't much better)
