this will probably end up being very long.

so you might have noticed i changed my diet from vegetarian to vegan! I have been vegan for a week now and i love it! I've always thought going vegan was an option but after doing a little more reading and meditation i have decided that i don't have a choice. It is the only way that is morally acceptable in todays society. I really hope i don't offend you all when i say this but i just don't think there is any reason or excuse for using animal products. I especially hate it when people claim to be "animal lovers" mainly only referring to their pets (which is in itself stupid) and yet they eat meat.surreal that concept to me is extremely contradicting. It's one of a few options:
-you are so dense that you only care about the animals you can physically touch, or that are right in front of you
-you only care about "cute" animals
-or you're just not educated enough about where your food comes from to make and educated decision.

I beg you guys to do some MILD reading a research before your next meal. I'm sure it will change your life. here is my number one recommendation. It was given to me by Setsuka along with a bunch of other vegan cookbooks. I was hooked on this one right away and was reading all night.

zoom image

here are some facts that i hope make a drastic difference in your choice of diet.
-did you know that dairy cows are repeatedly raped by artificial insemination and are forced to constantly give birth. As soon as their calves are born they are torn away from their mothers, who will continue to search for their babies, not knowing they have probably already been slaughtered to make veal.
-Their udders are forced to produce 10 times the milk that was meant for their babies and are in constant pain, heartache, and confusion.
-after they cannot give birth anymore, they are slaughtered to make the cheapest ground chuck.
- Our FDA deems cows, pigs, chickens, ect. acceptable to eat despite being raised in filthy conditions. Most are covered in cancerous tumors and sores. And then you make it a hamburger. And people wonder why cancer is rampant...
-think God put animals here for us to eat? consider this.
Christianity: “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the Earth, and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.” —Genesis 1:29-30

“Animals are God’s creatures, not human property, nor utilities, nor resources, nor commodities, but precious beings in God’s sight…Christians whose eyes are fixed on the awfulness of crucifixion are in a special position to understand the awfulness of innocent suffering. The Cross of Christ is God’s absolute identification with the weak, the powerless, and the vulnerable, but most of all with unprotected, undefended, innocent suffering.” — Reverend Andrew Linzey

“And the flesh of the slain beasts in his body will become his own tomb. For I tell you truly, he who kills, kills himself and he who eats the flesh of slain beasts, eats the body of death.” —The Essene Gospel of Peace

“The people in the desert are tired of manna, and so ask for meat. Quails are sent, but as soon as they eat the quails, they are struck with a deadly plague.” —Numbers 11:4-34

Even if you don't have a concern for the feelings and safety of animals, at least have the self respect to do it for yourself. It is by far the most unhealthy diet out there. It's not like back in the loden days when the cow you're eating was family raised and you practically grew up with her. You know she was healthy. NOPE. These animals are diseased, abused, and pumped full of chemicals and drugs.... it's just cruel and disgusting.

did you know that to make a fur coat, to kill the animal and not to damage the fur they use anal, and vaginal electrocution? puke
i could go on all day but ill spare you... but you should definitely think about what you're doing. If you have ANY questions please ask but do NOT try and debate me. I am prepared, you will, lose, and you will feel dumb. haha wink Go Vegan!
Peta!

on a much much much brighter note...when Setsuka and I went to the gym yesterday she brought me vegan pumpkin spice muffins! eeekSO GEWD. haha
Today we're going to Zumba class! HELLZ YEAH!

pics later? you betcha! biggrin

Well my wife told me about the show Earthlings and said that I should watch it. Also I have a very close friend who has just become a vegan and it just seems right.

So glad you like the book and hope you find some good recipes! smile I am now on the hunt for fall squash and pumpkin recipes. biggrin

It is always good to be informed about what you eat and wear. While it is nearly impossible to be 100% vegan (plastic bags, car tires, a million other things) I try to do what I can. My biggest issue is the industrialization of the meat industry. You should really watch the movie Food Inc. After we watched it, most of my friends changed their eating habits. Not necessarily to vegetarian but at least they are aware of where their food came from and can make more informed decisions.

And can't wait for Zumba!! smile

aw, thanks. it's just not my thing though smile

i want to learn more about veganism. i do eat meat, although less and less, as the older i get, the more it morally seems to bother me. i keep thinking about how what if the tables were turned and we were on the dinner table...

i love skinny bitch... i think i am going to read it again.. it opened my eyes to a lot... but since i have been eatting meat for soo long i find it hard to just cut it out all at once... so that is why i have been cutting back. i only eat chicken and fish... and really not really fish... but slowly it will happen. i have no problem with eatting soy products... i find they taste good. but i worry about all the stuff they say about how soy is bad for women...
i do agree with you tho i do need to be more educated on it all and i hope to be able to cut it all out by the new year. smile

do you have any pointers?

Well i think someone should play devils advocate here, just for arguements sake. Although i do agree on the furs thing, i think to kill some thing just for the fur is dumb, but i think if you kill it for the meat and use as much of the animal as possible keeping and using the fur is acceptable. But farming animals just for fur isnt right.

I do love meat, its so good. But with everything you have to do it in moderation. I hunt for meat, which i eat and do like. Wild game is much leaner of a meat and healthier for you in everyway but its hard to eat only wild game, theres only so much time to hunt, and freezers are only so big. I also raise pigs and know what goes into them but they are still filthy animals, but are fruits and vegtables so different? They also wallow around in mud haha.

What my point is, is that if you feel going vegan or vegitarian is the best thing for you kudos i applaud you in your ability to do that. However ill stick with my meat and milk, what would you eat your cereal with without milk? smile

Oh and you forgot the drugs they inject into dairy cows to increase their milk production, cant think of the drug name right now but its been proven to produce cancerous cells in people that consume it and other side effects.

As devils advocate i think ive done my job here haha. Although i dont agree with you, i think its awesome that you can adhear to your beliefs and although i think you should eat meat cause its so tasty i would never criticize your choices. And i like that instead of saying "you shouldnt eat meat, cause i dont" you gave facts and evidence why its bad for your health and for the animals involved.

thank you!! i really enjoyed reading your comment and surprisingly you did not offend me! haha i think where we disagree is, it's not so much that people kill animals for meat that bothers me, its the abuse and torture they endure for their entire lives before they are slaughtered.
plus i just dont like meat and i get sick when i eat it. frown
super bad tummy aches. frownfrown
haha but i LOVE that you are devils advocate and youre def the sweetest devil!! smile
