My nearly 15-year-old dog Bailey has bronchitis 
Nick and I have been watching her for the past few days because my dad was out of town and she recently had 6 teeth removed. Yesterday I noticed she was having a hard time breathing and she threw up last night and twice this morning. I dropped her off at the vet in between classes and I guess she has bronchitis. My poor puppy.
I love my Bailey dog.
Anyways, I just finished crying a bit. Not because of Bailey, although I almost started to when I dropped her off at the vet. I was crying because I'm so sick of not feeling passionate about the major I'm in. I've pretty much decided to get out of broadcast news. I hate it. I hate the people I'm surrounded by. I'm thinking the direction I need to be going in is online journalism. The internet is where my heart is...haha...kind of. Music is really where my heart is...but you can't study songwriting now can you?
And I've already gone so far in journalism and only have one more year left...there's no turning back now. It concerns me though that my internship with Pie Town Productions may not be completely viable if I get out of broadcast. Fuck.
Why must everything be so complicated?
Can something good happen...please?
OH WAIT...I get to make out with Keely on saturday...

It's hard for me to find anything good to say about broadcast journalism. It became a lowest common denominator sort of field a long time ago and there's no sign of that changing anytime in the foreseeable future. But if no decent people go into it, it's guaranteed nothing will ever change. The only advice I can offer is to try to go with what makes sense and feels right to you, balancing both the practical and spiritual sides of the equation. If you can't earn a good living doing what you love the most, find something that you at least enjoy that can pay the bills and also provide the opportunity to have your true love as an ardent avocation.
