wow so everybody is really worked up about bicycles. that's nice, because i am sort of trying to make this documentary about the bike subculture in portland. the problem that has arisen however, is that i really want to film a lot of night time stuff, and being a total novice, i haven't gone out and gotten myself a light yet. so i haven't even started! spooky hooked me up with his killer camera and has been very leniant in telling me when the hell he expects it back. so yeah i'm a big stupid slacker and i am going to get on it very soon. so i'm putting out the call to all you bike messengers and bike gangs and anyone else who is pretty enthusiastic about your bike. if you think you and/or your homies would be very interesting, drop me a line via the electronic mail system provided for us here by the good folks at Sg.com. and ladies, i really want to hear from you too. other than that, yeah i dance my ass off at lola's on fridays. shh.

Whats Lola's like? I've been meaning to go there for so long, but I always seem to get sidetracked at the Matador, where the drinks are cheap and the people too.
I hear its huge as far as bars go, and the decor is supposed to be pretty cool.......
HHmmmm....
Maybe I should just get get my ass in there and shut up.

cause bikes mean freedom. i love versitility and bikes give you more then you know what to do with. i know my way around my city better then most because i bike everywhere i go. not to mention you dont pay an arm and a leg for its up keep. how many people do you hear complain constently about insurance, car payments, loans payment they used to buy their car, and the grand master of all automotive compakints "gas coats to goddamn much!". us bike riders dont have to worry about that. we get a flat a new tube costs less then 5 bucks (depending on where you buy it). car drivers get a flat, you tack on a few zeros.

i prefer to ride alone though. others i know arent as daredevilish as i am. and you'll feel a great improvement in your cardio health once you get used to it.

P.S. and we dont pollute the environment tongue

Ive recently rediscovered the luxury of havin a bike. This summer i bought a brand new beach cruiser for 120 bucks. I pretty much used it only for my drunk excursions to the bar trying to avoid getting a DUI. Well i come to find out that in California it is also illegal to ride a bike while under the influence. Well, Ya, i kinda learned this the hard way but thank jeebus he just patted me down and gave me a stiffy instead. And told me that he wasnt concerned that i would kill anyone but that i would kill myself. In other words he was looking out for my best interest but i just thought what the fuck does he care I wanted to ride my bike drunk and yes i accept the responsibility of possibly killing myself. I dont exactly need a DUI to help me remember. Needless to say my bike is used for the mere pleasure of escaping now. I grab my MP3 player and venture the streets of costa mesa for hours now just like being 15 again.

i would imagine Portland has a pretty good bike subculture.
We have an awesome one here in SF. you should visit for your film. My bike gang is made up of a lot of ladies. We have jean jackets with painted back panels and everything.

i haven't ridden my bikes much in the past few years... especially since whenever i seem to be inspired to ride (and not otherwise occupied) it's freezing cold or pouring rain here in shitty upstate ny. blah! for awhile i wanted to move to nyc and be a bike messenger... but then i decided to go to college instead... oh well.
