I support the effort to make Sioo pink; not only are there too few black girls on SG, I think there's a sociological standard of what we've told true beauty is, and "white" is one of those facets. (People don't realize just how racist they're being when they say something like, "You're pretty hot for a black girl." What is that?) I think it's very important that people break down this idea of true beauty, because beauty is as diverse as we are as a species. I'm also supporting Sioo because she is devastatingly CUTE!
I enjoy your blogs. I've never been to France. By dad has been there multiple times, but he never takes any of his kids with him when he goes to Europe. This is way uncool because we have family in England, and we can take the Chunnel to France without any problems. Feh. I like that picture of the onna-bugeisha; in addition to being a gifted photographer and artist, you always come up with the coolest pictures from other places. Here's a thought: could you devise and shoot a set as an homage to these women warriors? It must have crossed your mind at least once, but if it hasn't at least now you might be thinking about it. What movie is that first guy clip from (I think it's a movie where Robert Downey Jr. is playing a homosexual; he's played one in a few films, and he's one of my all-time favorite actors) and what movie is the second one from? I am very familiar with the third clip, and that show is outstanding. I've been involved in a few pride parades as well, and I lend my support to the Empire State Pride Agenda when I can. A lot of people in the states, esp. straight white men like me, "tolerate" gay rights and the gay community, but it isn't enough to tolerate people you don't agree with, you must understand them, and you must support them. That's why I do whatever I can to build a nation of equals. It's a tough dream to realize anywhere on this planet, but at least the dreamers are working to make it come true. Whoa, I got really preachy here.
Sorry for the really long post.
Oh, and lastly, is that old man your dad? He looks SO cool! He's really grizzled, he's like exactly what I imagined a rugged individualist would look like; in my mind he's irascible and has strong convictions, and a general "fuck you" attitude towards government. Why else would you live in the frigid wilderness of the Alps?
