LIFE

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

I spent a whole week in Strasbourg, for guest tattooing work. It was intense, not bad, but really intense. I'm depleted. Considering seriously to never get out of my bed ever again
zoom image

I'm very glad to be home and to be back amongst my magic gay elves. And we all laughed hard when a drunk dude asked us "Are you all brothers ?"
"No we are all fags"

Life is getting better. My heart is sticking pieces together again, hopefully. I'm trying to take better care of my body and mind.

I won't stop advicing you to watch Avatar, the last airbender. Nice show ! So refreshing to see something so not sexist, non-ableist, far from usual white-standards, well animated, and fun. Go for it !

Also if you've ever been working as a waitress, waiter, or any customers-service jobs, I warmly recommend you to watch "2 Broke Girls".

Yes. All you always dreamt to say to customers, she's doing it. Very enjoyable.

OH THE INTERNET
Random thingies from the web and food for thoughts on racism, queerness and privileges.

Acimowin: to tell a story: Megan Bertasson at TEDxYorkU 2012
This is why racism is not a fucking joke, if you dont understand what Natives deal with, why we're angry, watch this and you will understand

Learn to listen. This is especially difficult for members of dominant groups. If someone confronts you with your own behavior that supports privilege, step off the path of least resistance that encourages you to defend and deny. Don't tell them they're too sensitive or need a better sense of humor, and don't try to explain away what you did as something else than what they're telling you it was. Don't say you didn't mean it or that you were only kidding. Don't tell them what a champion of justice you are or how hurt you feel because of what they're telling you. Don't make jokes or try to be cute or charming, since only privilege can lead someone to believe these are acceptable responses to something as serious as privilege and oppression. Listen to what's being said. Take it seriously. Assume for the time being that it's true, because given the power of paths of least resistance, it probably is. And then take responsibility to do something about it.

Male privilege is not being able to avoid images of barely legal girls gripping phallic objects for advertising, magazine covers or anything really, when you know for a fact a man acting giving head to a woman would never be allowed to be so public.

Yeah! Love your blog smile Sooo many activities smile No wonder you feel flooded sometimes. Great your latest set on ISM immediately made a stand as editor's choice! (Grande surprise: finally found 1 person who also loves the Left Hand Of Darkness). And I'd love the Bäska's calender, it's awesome, but they charge so much for postage I'll have to order 5 at least biggrin
Enjoy time with your sweet colorful family smile greetings from me. Oh, and when will you be in Strasbourg again? I'll send you an idea surreal smile
Sending some love from a cold and snowy place.

If I'm ever in France, I'm going to have you tattoo me. Even if I have to go out of my way to see you. smile
The last backbone picture reminded me of a story that was told in a Yahoo group about 10 years ago. One of the people had hosted a small party for a friend who was visiting the States from New Zealand - I think they were watching World Cup matches when the New Zealander stood up and announced, "I'm going outside to smoke some fags" and was shocked by the horrified looks everyone in the room gave him -, and even more shocked when they told him he just said he was going to go shoot some gays. (We usually don't use the word "fags" for cigarettes here.) Sometimes a harsh word in one culture is just a word in another. Perhaps someday, no words will be harsh.

I love the tattoo you did without a black outline (is it a radish?), do you do many of those or are you branching out?

Sorry, I wasn't clear! Silly me. I meant the watercolour style - I haven't seen many examples of that style before and I think it is lovely. You have produced a wonderful watercolour radish! smile
