Time for a real update.
Yay for new profile picture!! I have been on this site for just over five years and it is my third profile picture.
It is always refreshing to log on and see something new.
I booked my ticket to London from June 7th till June 21st.
My brother and I are going together and have some VERY exciting things planned.
Firstly

A couple of things to mention.
I was at Download festival with my brother five years ago, we promised we would go back and it took us this long to finally return. It was truly one of the best weekends of my life. There is a very excited and descriptive blog about it here.
I will be seeing my favorite band Opeth live for the second time this year. I am a huge fan and seeing them earlier this year was a magical experience. I got to meet them and this happened (yes, I went all groupie, I couldn't help myslelf)
(It's an awful image, blurry and I look like poop but I don't care)

So the fact that I get to see them again is just beyond a dream for me.
It is also the 20th anniversary of the Metallica Black album so they are playing it in it's entirety in order! Ok, it is not my favorite album but it is the first one I fell in love with at 12 years old and it will be great to see these legends of metal playing the whole album live. (I saw them in South Africa some years ago and it was also an incredible experience so I am super excited to see them again). Along with other AWESOME bands like Tenacious D and more more more it is sure to be an amazing weekend.
Anyone who knows me will tell you I am a total Harry Potter geek, so when I saw this was opening I got just about as excited as a kid on Christmas.
We will get to walk down Diagon Alley, see the sorting hat and other costumes and SO much more!! *squeal*
Last but certainly not least, very big news. My dad is 64 and his wife is 42, they have been married for 12 years and don't have kids together... until now! So I am going to be a big sister! My baby sister will be born (hopefully) when we are there. Her due date is exactly in the middle of our trip so if all works out we will get to meet her! The other great part of this is my other brother from South Africa is also coming so we are having a big family reunion!! Very exciting stuff.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here are a few pictures of other random happenings in my life

My bestie Orev has joined the site, she is really one of the most incredible, funny and smart woman I know.
Please give her a nice big welcome.

You can follow me on Instagram if you feel so inclined, diazsg.
With that I bid you all farewell and HAPPY SPRING, bring on the summer!!!

I have some really exciting stuff happening in the next month,
On Feb 22nd I have been a Suicide Girl for five years!!

Here is a little picture journey to show how much has changed in the last years
My first set Passion

I have hardly any tattoos!! This set was shot in my living room, it was the first time I had ever been in front of a camera after many years of working behind one as a hair and make up artist. I was so nervous I drank almost a full bottle of Jagermeister! I will never forget how happy I was when this was accepted, it took about a year to finally go live.
I remember when I first met the lovely Talamia, I had heard what an amazing photographer she was and asked her if she would be interested in shooting for SG.
This is what happened, The Strange, my Emily The Strange tribute (not purchased)

It took some time for me to shoot my next set, Talamia and I shot Rubicks Cube

On the same day (in the same hotel room) we shot The Outsider (We submitted it quite some time after Rubicks Cube, set not purchased)

This set was a real passion project for me and the fact that it was not purchased is actually ok for me.
I shoot sets and choose content for me, as a form of self expression and if people like it, great, if not, it's really ok. I have these amazing pictures and will treasure them forever.
Before we submitted The Outsider we shot and submitted Choke. This was shot in a friends house, he has a great library and originally we were going to shoot with the library in the back ground. We decided to shoot in this room instead.

We shot this just before I moved to Israel, I knew I was moving to a country with no staff photographers and I wasn't sure how long it would take me to find someone to shoot for me here. I also just had to look into the lovely Miss Talamia's camera one last time.
It took me two years until I finally found the gorgeous and talented Miss Tina Dubrovsky
We shot Cupid's Victim, queued for March 5th. I am both excited and nervous as it has been so long since I had a set in MR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On March 10th my favorite band is here in Tel Aviv.
I have been listening to Opeth for many years and when I came here on vacation for my first time they played here just one week after I left. I am SO excited I can hardly contain myself!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On March 31st I AM TURNING THE BIG 3-0
Getting older is such a strange thing, I remember as a child of about 10 asking my mother if she could be any age what age would she be and she answered that she wouldn't change her age at all. Every age has its lessons and she embraces where she is. I am fortunate to have inherited my mothers view. I am really excited for my 30's. Here is to another decade of love, travel, growth and laughter!!

Lots of love xxooxx

I got a promotion!
I started at the bar/restaurant I work in exactly two years ago on Superbowl Sunday.
I came to this country on my own and I didn't (and still don't really..) know the language.
It is an English speaking bar and all the staff are immigrants from all over the world so very quickly my colleagues became my family, people who have been through what I was going through and we became very close.
I waitressed there for a year and a half, then for the last six months I have been bartending and finally now I got a promotion to full time manager.
My new job is in a neighboring city so it means much more travel and much more responsibility.
Considering my next birthday will be my *cough* 30th (yes, I said it) I guess it's time for me to once again become serious.
Here is a journey in pictures back in time to our crazy monthly theme parties we have at the bar.
70's party

Decorating for halloween

Riding the bus to the toga party (lots of strange looks on the way)

Purim (Israel's halloween)

Cowboys and Indians (with a very unflattering waitress pouch)

Christmas

Coconut Jam, lots of Reggae and Mai Tai's!

St. Patrick's Day

Pirate Party Aaaaaarrrrrrrrr ho ho ho and a bottle of rummmmm

Another Halloween, my brother and I came as dead Wayne and Garth (his make up had all rubbed off by the time this picture was taken)

Another Cowboys and Indians (this time I was a cowgirl)

Parties aside, this bar has a very serious history. This is a big reason why we are all so close there.

Even with so much going on with my work and it feels like it is all I do lately I managed to find time to do this last week

Cupid's Victim, coming soon ![]()
Much love <3

Next week I have to go to the dentist. I have totally neglected my teeth in the past and now I am paying for it with three trips to the dentist for fillings.
Next week will be my second of the three visits. Is it normal that I would rather be tattooed for hours then spend 40 minutes in the dentist chair?

It's not all bad though, I have lots of exciting things happening in the next few months.
Firstly, my favourite band of all time (yes, I said of ALL time) OPETH is coming to Israel on March 10.
I am obsessed with their new album and have never seen them before so I am counting the days....
Secondly, we are planning a trip to Berlin, Prague and Amsterdam for the last week of March (my birthday) and the first two weeks of April.
We will be at the Punk and disorderly festival in Berlin. Any of you gonna be there?
I just found out I am going to be a big sister, my dad, at the ripe age of 63 and his wife are pregnant!
I am turning the big 3-0 next year so that means when she is 18 I will be 48!
I will be the crazy big sister..
Lastly, Lavezzaro will be travelling to Israel next year so finally I will be able to shoot a new set, I am hoping to arrange a set in Europe when I am there so keep your eyes peeled in the (not so) near future.
Current obsession
That's all for now.
Much love!!!

It's almost two years since I left my beloved South Africa so I thought I'd dedicate a blog to my homeland.
What I miss most:
My friends, some are on SG:
The beautiful Hadess

The amazingly talented Talamia and miss Lynx

Miss LaTara

Tarion, Hadess and I sharing a loving moment

Last but not least, my bestie for life Voodou

I miss my South African music
I miss:
Good curry
Good chinese food
Braai (bbq)
Swimming pools ( I have a beach but it's not the same)
My favourite place in the country
Beauty...
The world at its best
I miss smiling at a person you don't know and saying hello on the street (common practice in S.A)
Howzit! (hello)
Lekker! (cool)
Biltong (South African cured meat, similar-but MUCH better than jerkey)

There is so much more that I miss.
I am so happy here in Tel Aviv and have built a great life for myself, full of love and happiness.
I will always miss SA though.
You can take the girl out of Jozi but you can't take Jozi out of the girl.
Before I go, give my hometown girl Pyke some love on her set
This lady is so beautiful and sweet, she is super active on the site and totally deserves to go pink.

Much love

I got home from work today and had the urge to draw for the first time since high school ( a loonnggg time ago)
So inspired by my beautiful friend Voodou I started drawing.
I am very rusty and they turned out very amateur and child like but I thought I'd share them with you anyway...
Voodou

(I had a really hard time with the hands here and eventually gave up)
Fany

Prussia

And lastly, a self portrait

I don't know why the images are the wrong way round... I am an iPhone retard.. :/
Anyway, that is my small attempt at being an 'artiiist' (said in a French accent)
Peace out

I finished my half sleeve!
It all started with this piece in my inner arm

Done by Ryan Busta Boltoon back in South Africa a couple of years ago.
Inspired by this song:
I decided to go with the original inspiration of The Beatles for the rest of the piece.
Here is the finished tattoo (excuse the poor quality images)

Inspired by these songs:
Done by the brilliant Snir Zelman who will be working in Germany from November
I get a lot of 'You must really love The Beatles' and those sort of comments. I do really love them, I grew up on their music. More than that though, I love their message of love and peace.
I am a hippie at heart
