No matter how many sets I upload to SG the part of the MR process where I wait and see if everyone likes the set enough for it to go FP will NEVER be easy. I have spent the last two days biting my nails over it, I hate this part of the process so much. Panic as the comment count slows, wondering if it's enough, hoping against hope. Obsessively checking my %, wondering if I should write a blog with a link, checking round the site to see if anyone's mentioned it in whatever threads. So so lame!!! I am learning to try and let go, let the comment count run its course. Thank you so so much to everyone who has left lovely comments so far. I really appreciate it and my eyes light up every time I see your familiar user pictures and names. I love hearing what you all have to say. I'm at almost 700 comments, I feel like if I reach 1000 within the next few days I might just be lucky and get a set on the front page again, I really hope I do, this is by far my favourite one so far. So please, if you like it and you have time, go flick another comment it's way.
Exkyu and I shot at about 2pm on a warm autumn afternoon. It was still very cool and I was grateful there was sunshine and the warm tar road to keep me from getting goosebumps. There were a few cars that went past while we were shooting. Because it wasn't a dirt road, you couldn't hear them coming so they would always suddenly be there. Also, there were people playing golf right near us at one point. I was sitting on the side of the road, midway through the shoot, completely naked and a car appeared and the old man driving it stared at me as he went past. I have no idea whether he was scandalised or whether I'd just made his day. We'll probably never know! Luckily when I was shooting the last part of the set where I'm walking along the road naked no one came past. I was so worried somebody would!!
The spot was so beautiful, though. Exkyu and I were driving along it just when the leaves had the first touches of yellow on them and I was so amazed at the beautuful colours. But when we came back 2 weeks later to shoot, it was even better. Even more golden and wonderful. I am so thankful to those poplar trees for being so beautiful and brightening everyone's day. And now they're brightening the days of all the SG members who see my set as well as those lucky people who can drive down that road at the right time of year. Photography is magical like that.
I hope you all have a wonderful day. Here's me being an ass at home...

I'm trying to get back into writing. I feel like the universe around me is commanding me to. Everywhere I turn there are people talking about literature, about writing, famous authors and their prose. And then there's my book. 50,000 words of unfinished, clunky, first-draft. There is so much creation going on around me. Friends who are having babies (I'm up to my eyeballs knitting baby blankets for them all), buildings being designed around me every day, amazing websites taking shape, and then there's me, peripherally involved in everything, but not daring to dive in and get my fingers dirty. I've had enough, I have to pull myself together and join in.
There are two expressions I really live by. That's not true, there are so many. But these are the two that I have in my head at the moment. The first is "Never stand still", the second is "Stop and smell the roses". Right now, I'm torn between the two. I suppose, as with all things in life, balance is key. It is just finding that balance that is so difficult. Right now, the roses are winning. Roses in the form of the Game of Thrones TV series. I am completely, hopelessly addicted. It's like when I studied the political history of Rome. Only, the sex is better documented. And I'm a sucker for a good sex scene. If you haven't seen it and you like the idea of High Fantasy meeting Political Drama, I urge you to take a look.
Also, I might be moving house soon. I found a place that I like. It's cheaper than where I am at the moment and definitely shinier. The inspection for it is coming up, so I guess we shall see. I've fallen in love with it a little bit, the inspection will show whether a wide-angle lens and some skillful photoshopping has made it look as nice as it appears in the ad. Hopefully it's big enough. I could do with a change. Though, it means sacrificing my beautiful, tragically spider-ridden garden. I guess we'll see.
It's well and truly cooling down here. Winter is coming. Heh heh heh. Maybe I'll need to knit myself some socks and a blanket soon! I love the crisp, icy frosts in the mornings. Though they'll kill my poor tomato plants, frosts are so fresh and beautiful, I'm looking forward to it. Does anyone have any idea what to do with green tomatoes? I'm pretty sure I'm going to have a few of them on my hands before long. Why do my blogs always end with me talking about the weather? Apparently it is the most talked about topic in the whole world.
Here's a photo for you:

Ispent my day off, yesterday, reading The Hunger Games. If you like post-apocalyptic almost sci-fi stories about teenage girls GET AMONGST IT. I really enjoyed it. It was exciting and satisfying in a way that "I-know-what's-going-to-happen" books just aren't. I have been meaning to read it for a few years and I figured I should probably get on with it now that the film is about to come out here. I think I will see the film too. I enjoy ripping apart adaptations. Haha. I have some thoughts on the book but I don't want to spoil it for everyone. I'll just say this, the book's popularity, I think, shows that if gladiator tournaments were still the done thing, we'd probably all be there, cheering in the stands.
I just finished off some cold roast meat for breakfast. Some days I just don't feel like cooking eggs. Thank goodness for leftovers!! I've been eating paleo/primal for the better part of a year now, and I have to say that eating this way is one of the best decisions I've ever made for my health. I feel fantastic! I would recommend it to anyone! Also, I've discovered a love for dates that will not die. Yum!
My new set is up to 1000 comments! Thank you so much everyone, I am so happy with how it has been received. Can't wait to submit more to SG (if you want me). Feel free to flick some more comments it's way and we might even have a front pager!
Also, March was a fantastic month for Australian sets!

This is just a quick post to thank you for all the amazing, lovely comments on my new set in MR. Right now, I'm at about the 850 comment mark which is incredible. I am hoping we can hit 1000, but we'll see! I'm glad you all seem to like it so much, I am really happy with how it turned out. It's wonderful having so much love and support for an Australian photoset, thank you. Feel free to keep commenting. <3
