Well I'm back at uni for another semester. Its been fine so far, lots of work already but I was expecting that. I'm really really excited because I'm doing an elective that fits so well with my interests and what I want to do when I graduate. I've already started working on it, researching, ordering books from the library etc. I love being able to study things I'm interested in! It makes the work so much more enjoyable and fulfilling!
I bought a vegetable steamer! I never had one before now, its very exciting in a ridiculously domestic sort of way. I also got a new teapot for when guests come over because my old one is only good when I'm alone.
And incase you aren't already convinced that I'm a domestic bore... here's a pic of Bastard Cat in full winter coat glory! Nawwwww...

Anyway, sorry I've been a bit absent lately, I'm still around! I promise! Just busy buying books and then... reading them. You know.

I feel really lonely tonight. I guess I don't have a lot of time by myself generally. When I'm alone during the day, its nice. I find I get more things accomplished, the house is tidier and I don't tend to waste half the morning refusing to get out of bed. But at night I hate being alone. Eating dinner by myself is never as good as sharing it. I think that out of all the meals, dinner is the most social. And then because its winter here, its cold. Since I'm the only one here, I can't justify switching on the heater. Right now I'm in bed... I'll go to sleep just as soon as my body heat has warmed up the sheets a bit more. I hate sliding into a cool bed on a cold night. My kitty is sick and is peeing everywhere so she can't keep me company either. I miss warm purring fuzzballs.
For the past few months I've been wearing those fake plastic nails. Two fell off today so I think its a sign. They were fun while they lasted, and very pretty too! I got them natural looking (not those scary square-ended nails) but they make the natural nail sore when they fall off so its probably time for a break.
I'm quite worried about the next semester of uni. I have such a workload coming my way and I cannot afford to fail anything. All of the subjects are integral for my progression onwards. Ugh. I feel like I've painted myself into a wall a bit, there's no way to pick easier subjects... but I couldn't have gotten any of these classes over with before now either! Agh. I suppose I should start revising things soon.
This journal is a bit wandering... But in my defence it is very cold.
I am so excited, a fabulous someone who will remain anon bought me this book off my wishlist: The Intimate Adventures of A London Call-Girl. And before you ask, no I'm not considering a career change. I just find them so oddly fascinating. Prostitutes that is. Wnenever I'm in the red-light district I'm always glancing around at them, trying to get a better look... they live in a world that is so different. I've always been intrigued. I know the names of several high-class local brothels. I like to lurk their websites. I'd love to design a brothel one day. Haha, maybe I'll do it as my end of university project? Somehow I don't think my lecturers would consider it 'real architecture'. Their loss I suppose. In 30 years time, the 'innovations' they design today will be kitsch as well I bet.

Hmm. I really don't have a heap to say at the moment...
I've been reading this interesting book by Marcea Weber (published before I was born) called WHOLEMEALS. Which sounds like a type of bread but actually isn't in this context. Its all about the technical details of what we eat... for example did you know that Thiamin is a vitamin that is really easily destroyed? Apparently it is destroyed by oxygen in the air and is unable to be heated in alkaline or neutral conditions. Baking bread results in a 15-30% loss and toasting results in an additional 10-30% loss. Also Aluminium when used for cooking (eg: in pots and pans) will leech aluminium hydroxide. Aluminium Hydroxide has been linked to digestive problems and alzheimer's disease.
Anyway, the book is about all these small adjustments you can make to what you eat in order to live healthier. Its mostly cook-book which I love too because it means if I want to be dumb, I can just cook something from there. Also all the recipes are put in seasonal categories. Like there's a section for "early summer" that incorporates a lot of foods that are going to be in season in summer. Its mostly vegetarian which I'm ok with (I do love my meat though... probably a little too much!).
Today I cooked Stuffed Peppers for dinner and it was really tasty! I want to start cooking a lot more and learning about stuff like this.... organic eating and whatnot. I want to be off processed food entirely by the time I'm 29. No kids of mine will have ADD from eating too many preservatives! (I hope!)
I also had some tourists visit. They stayed over last night and I took them on a tour of the town. I think they enjoyed their stay even though the fella was a little allergic to my cats. I took them to Vinnies (a "thrift store") so they could get some warm clothes... they'd just been in Fiji for like 9 months so winter was a bit of a shock I think. I might visit them if they're in Europe in Jan/Feb nextyear when I'm going to be up there... that will be even colder. Eeep!
I don't have a new exciting photo so here's a pic of the book I'm going to write one day... HAHA.

Thankfully THAT particular building designed by Adolf Loos was never constructed. And that book will probably follow suit. But really... some male (and some female!) architects really make me laugh. I'm not sure if any of you are fans of the TV show "How I Met Your Mother" but there was a running joke about that there too. The main character's boss designed a building that looked JUST LIKE A PENIS. HAHA SO FUNNY. Ahem. I'm a 12year old boy on the inside... but at least none of my designs have been quite so outrageously phallic.

Well I'm back! I had a lovely trip. Lots of driving around and sleeping in. Both things I heartily enjoy. I met a couple of SG members while I was away! Lotsa fun...

YAY

My set was up on the front page of SG at this point, but I didn't know till I finally finished driving. It was really exciting! And the night was a lot of fun. A few people that no one knew came up and sat at our table and just started talking to us and we were like... err... who are you? I'm not used to that. No one really seemed to think it was strange except us out-of-town-ers. And a guy that looked suspiciously like a politician came and sat with us at one point too. But he denied all allegations... but then, politicians are good at doing that aren't they.

This is down on the property. Burned some dead trees and a bit of garbage which was fun.

This is the fire a little bit later... its so pretty! There were purple and green flames at one stage which was pretty... and a little freaky. I'm not sure what that was about. But I've never seen a fire that colourful before!

And my bastard of a cat who has put on about 3/4s of its regular size in the form of a winter coat. She is now ready to be skinned and I shall make slippers from her pelt. Mmm, snuggly warmness. She is also half-feral now. Luckily because she has a heart condition she doesn't have a chance of catching even a baby rabbit. She has almost no depth perception and will bat at something that's a good meter away. Its cute and amusing. Poor thing!

Silvio the sheep. Doing his favourite thing in the world... eating stale bread!

The best piece of paddock rubbish that there ever was. I once did a photoset on this baby, but the light was too dappled because of the trees. Alas.

And this is back at home... my baby! Isn't she adorable? She's snoozing on my lap right now. Nawwww.
xoxo

Hey there kitties!
I'm away from home at the moment so I haven't gotten through all of the new friend requests yet. I've been sitting here about 3hrs now and I'm around halfway through. I don't just want to go ahead and accept everyone, only the people who are either interested in my blog or my photo set or who have sent me messages... which is looking like about 35% of the people who asked to be my friend at this point. I have no idea why the others have requested me, seeing as they've had nothing to do with me EVER. Its really odd.
Anyway, I'm enjoying my time away, I slept in till 1pm yesterday which is my latest morning ever! I've gone out with some of my friends over the last two nights as well. Its been lovely! I have missed being on here, and the abysmal state of my friend requests and the number of un-replied messages and blog comments is further proof of that. The next three days are going to be almost internetless too
Anyhoo... here's something that's been stirring around in my head over the last week...
I find it funny, the differences between different types of people. I was watching the two SG DVD's the other night, I watched "The Italian Villa" followed by "The First Tour" and I was struck by how different the two are from one another. Not so much in content, because essentially both DVD's profiled the adventures of a bunch of SG's and looked in on their photosets being made with interviews and whatnot... the difference I noticed was between the girls themselves.
In one part of the "Italian Villa" Manko is narrating in that ridiculous fake accent (lol) and I just managed to overhear one of the Italian girls ask the others as they were sitting down to dinner "should we say grace?". Very cute. Haha. But the entire DVD is a very "classy" affair. Compare that to the American DVD "The First Tour" which, as Stormy says, is all about "bitches taking their clothes off!" With adventures of the girls getting absolutely drunk, chased out of hotel swimming pools and attempting to hail taxis whilst completely naked and wondering why no one would stop (my guess is that the taxis thought they were hookers, but that's just my theory). Its not that the Europeans were less alcoholic... the expression "we should drink something" is repeated many times, but they were careful to keep their excentricities (and nudity) behind closed doors.
I'm not trying to put a value judgement on the two different DVD's or the two different sets of girls as I found both thoroughly entertaining... I just found it interesting how DIFFERENT these two sets of girls were and yet both groups are the same types of girls. SG's. Both of them were naked a lot, but the way they were naked was different. I love it when one of the European SG's is talking in Italian and says that SuicideGirls is a place where she can show "a different, secret side of herself". I like that. Its the way I see it too.
I think I (as an Aussie) fit somewhere in between the two groups. I think "The First Tour" would be completely out of my comfort zone but I could be goaded into doing some pretty crazy stuff if there was enough alcohol and fun going on. But at the same time I wonder if I'd be bored being a part of "The Italian Villa". Although they had a fair share of action as well (that scene on the pool table? OOhh. Funstuff.) I guess we Aussies have our cultural background from the British and that really shows through in the way we behave. That said, a lot of us are slowly getting more and more Americanised because of TV.
Like I said, its interesting. And its *really* obvious if you watch the two DVD's one after the other.
Anyway, I'm going to disappear into my internetless hole. I'll be back in 3days with pictures of my travels and of new friends! Till then be good!

Hee! So my set was accepted! I'm PSYCHED! I've wanted to be on this site as a SuicideGirl for a long time now. There have already been a few congratulatory messages and stuff appearing so thanks everyone! And once again (this is the last time I promise) thanks for all your comments and love. I'm awed. Seriously.
My set is in limbo right now, so expect to see it on the front page soon! Thanks so much to my photographer for scouting the location and also shooting the set. Hopefully I can get you credited as the photographer before it goes live! Just got to figure out how.
I'm so glad this happened today because tonight I'm leaving for a weekend away. I'll be around a bit hopefully, I'm taking my laptop so I'll sneak as much internet as I can. I'm looking forward to getting out of the house for a bit.
Anyway, yes, THANKYOU EVERYONE!!
