I was thinking about a song from Keating, the musical today. Paul (Paul Keating was the Australian Prime Minister and the musical is about him, btw) is introducing himself to the audience and says something like...

You had some dinner to eat, now you got a good seat
See, there’s nothing wrong with being inner-city elite

Its funny because a common criticism of Australian Labor Party, Democrat, Green and other left wing politicians made by those on the right is that they are members of any ‘inner city elite’ – which by extension consists of chardonay-swilling over-educated snobs who are out of touch with ‘the real Australia’. (A look at the actual electoral results of almost any Australian election will disprove this).

But what I find interesting is that a lot of my circle are probably a bit over-educated, we're all a bit out of touch and we all vote along the lines of the stereotype. I was thinking of maybe playing that element up and making a bit of a joke of it in my next photoset for SG (Yes, you guys, I'm shooting a set very very soon!).

The only issue is... I reckon almost no one will get it because Keating is probably a pretty obscure musical... unless you're a political addict and an Aussie. So I guess I can't go too far with it. But that said, the idea of being all dressed up in a formal location and feeling uncomfortable is very very universal. And that's how I feel sometimes when I have to dress up as "inner-city elite". I can do it... but I'd rather be in jeans and a nice singlet top. Or even track pants. Or naked! (See how I could work this idea into a photoset? Haha).

Another part of me feels a bit guilty about shooting a set because my cousin still hasn't got back to me about doing my backseam tattoos at her studio and now that my nipple piercings are gone... I don't want to be one of THOSE modless girls. Ack! It was completely unintentional I swear! Hopefully some bright colours in my hair, my ears and my surgery scars will be enough for me not to look too 'playboy-not-SG'.

This is a bit of a ramble. I'm just posting straight from the heart.

Here, have a picture:

Me too Scotty, I cant wait!

Also, set idea sounds awesome.
And personally I don't care about the mod factor in sets. So long as its shot well, and has an idea behind it, thumbs up from me.

Great idea for a set! Perhaps you could work 'unrepresentative swill' in there somehow...? biggrin

Awesome idea! I'm a bit biased though since I work for the theatre company that produced Keating. I have a video somewhere of the light up Keating sign spelling my name.

Then, get on with the body mods... Which leads to a new set from you, which = awesomeness.

Was Keating the PM who got swept out to sea? (OK, I'm not so up on my Australian politics...)

We get the same thing over here--I'm trying to think what the exact phrase here is. Used to be "limousine liberals" back in the 1970s. Now I guess it is elites. It's funny though, because "inner city" here connotes poor urban, usually minority, residents (cf. Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues (Make Me Wanna Holler)") I've heard "wine & brie crowd", which is good because I like brie but don't particularly care for chardonnay...

Like the idea of a set, though! Oddly enough for somebody on this site, I'm not particularly into body mods, so don't feel you need to give in to peer pressure!

I think you should include a link to the Wikipedia article about it to educate us non-Aussie types (in the set description). :-D If there's no article, you should write it! You can't really have enough Aussie and I'm sure Wikipedia needs more Aussie, so it would be a patriotic thing.

Can't wait to see your next set!

How's school going or are you taking a break from scrambling your brains? biggrin

I think the Keating thing might be hard to do, but if the shots are good (which they will be of course) then so what, you'll know what it means biggrin
I think sg is a state of mind, don't worry about the mod thing because anyone that cares knows you're sg. And I don't think a shoot with maddame would ever look playboy by accident.
