I am struggling to figure out where on earth to start with this blog... Its been 24 hours since my MR set went live. Since then I've received a flood of amazing comments, friend requests and messages. Before today if you had have told me what kind of response my set would have, I wouldn't have believed you. As it is, I'm kinda like this...

eeek (but with plenty of happy, excited, giddy, exuberant and joyful mixed in there too).

First of all, thanks everyone for the tremendous response! I've tried my hardest to add back all the friend requests, answer all the messages and read all the comments. One or two might have slipped by me but I've been really diligent! So thankyou thankyou thank you all! And a special shout out to my photographer for shooting it. He's destined to be an official SG Aussie photographer I think wink

I am currently coming 2nd in the "comment count" out of every MR set of all SG. Which is pretty incredible seeing as my set has only been up for 1.5 days. Like I said: eeek

So if you haven't already (or you have and you want to be super nice) go show some more love so that when SG staff get back to work on monday they can be like "OMG @ COUNTESSA'S LOVE" and pinkify me. But remember, its quality as well as quantity! Apparently SG staff speak entirely in capital letters... you know. tongue

NOW!

Onto something that's NOT to do with my set so that you guys don't get bored of me!

I had a Crazy Christian try to sell me a book about how the world is going to end imminently. Days, not weeks. He was not calmed by my reassurances that this was unlikely. Despite the fact that the book was published in 2003, which I found a little ironic. Its annoying because he was standing JUST off the University campus catching students as they came in and out so I couldn't even call the golf-buggy-team-security on his ass. Technically you can't sell stuff on campus. But Fundies give out free cupcakes in the quadrangle in exchange for you "hanging out" with them... and by that they mean stealing your soul. I like their cupcakes though. I never hang around for the evangelising.

I don't know though... I just hate people who actively go about trying to CHANGE me. In my kinda-not-really spirituality, spreading the word is actively discouraged. Which is good. Evangelising pisses people off. Which means more people are getting annoyed by the religion and therefore less people learning about it, right? I mean, we have the internet now... if someone is interested in my kinda-not-really spirituality they can google it or find it independently to me ramming it down their throat. That's how I found it!

So I guess my theory is that evangelising, particularly to people who are familiar with conversion techniques and can argue their own theology in the face of someone else's is largely unsuccessful. Especially when the internet is RIGHT THERE for them to find out about your religion without your help. Maybe technology is going to make these word-spreaders redundant. I certainly hope so. I don't like having to defend my beliefs to someone who thinks I'm going to "hell" because I don't think the same way they do.

I dunno, it just irritates me a lot... As for the fellow with the doomsday book? I said "no thankyou" and wandered off. I hope his apocalypse is going nicely and he's ejoying that satisfied feeling you get when you're right about something. tongue

That's all from me for tonight I think. I love you guys!

Maybe he WAS right. Maybe he got hit by a bus after that.

I think there are different religions for different people. People silly enough to believe in fairly literal dogmatic christianity would not thrive in an esoteric earth religion. They can have their silly church, i'm okay with that. They can even annoy me, cuz I have so much fun arguing with them.

I've never been able to accept any religion "x" in part because I have friends in other religions "y" and "z", and I'm not willing to accept the damnation of any particular subset of my friends. I'm pretty much an agnostic myself, in any event, so if any of them are *strictly* right, I'm in for it. So I just hope everyone's wrong, and also that everyone is somewhat right.

I wonder what your crazy will be thinking in a week... a year... a decade?
Things never go as a planned. Sometimes this is a very good thing, indeed. wink

I agree, prophecy/ preaching DOES discourage anyone from seeking their own faith / true meaning of life. Thankfully, those people are usually wrong .
As I say, "God favors no-one, only religions do that."
Again, stunning pictures of you.

I feel, religion is something you should keep to yourself unless you are directly questioned about it, then if the other person is intrigued, go hammers.
...and hells yeah about finding out stuff for yourself on the net.

Someone has been shouting, "the world is ending", since the beginning of time. Organized religion is another way to control the masses. So eat their cupcakes and walk away. Your set is deserving of all the attention it is getting. Enjoy your weekend.

You ever notice that doomsday people are always saying that like 99% of the people will die then they go on to tell how THEY are going to survive after? I got some bad news for you buddy, IF you're right the odd of YOU being in the 1% are pretty fucking slim.
