News that I'm going on tour with 108 in July and making out with a cute as hell boy who's got a Black Flag tattoo both on the same day?! See, I told you I had sweet karma.
P.S. I'd hate me, too.
P.S. I'd hate me, too.
Here's a short update as to let you know what I'm up to right now and in the near future...
&hearts My internship at a venue called Goudvishal is almost coming to an end... For the past four months I have learned so much more about venue management by doing pre-production and programming than I could ever learn in school, and I'm so grateful for having met and worked with the people I have gotten in contact with through this job. I won't be working there full-time any longer after mid-January, but I will continue doing artist hospitality (i.e. band babysitting) and booking shows there for who knows how long, as well as being involved with next year's Arnhem Metal Meeting.
&hearts I'm currently putting up three hardcore/emocore shows at Goudvishal in the new year with bands including Burden Of A Day (Febuary 18), Parkway Drive from Australia (March 1st), and xLooking Forwardx (March 10). It's going to be sweet. More on this later.
&hearts As a fitting end to my internship, my "placement lecturer" (i.e. boss) is taking me to Noorderslag, a three-day music industry festival in the north of Holland showcasing lots of upcoming bands from all over Europe, including our very own Tying Tiffany! It's quite exciting as pretty much every label manager, booker, artist- and A&R manager in The Netherlands will be around to meet each other and discover new artists.
&hearts Don't worry about me being bored when I'm finished at the venue, I'll be starting a new internship at Reflections Records in mid-Febuary and taking Business Concepts Music Industry and Artist Management classes until the summer. Speaking of summer, looks like I'm either going on tour or visit the East Coast for a couple of weeks. Hell, I might end up doing both!
&hearts After my last blog with a couple of videos of my father playing with his hardcore band B.G.K. at CBGB's in the mid-80s, some of you asked if he is still making music today. He is currently playing in The Nitwitz (tour diaries written by yours truly can be found on their MySpace page) but is starting a rock'n'roll project with some other rockers in the Spring. I can't give away too much about that yet, but keep your eyed peeled on my blog if you're interested.
&hearts I have no special plans for Christmas or New Year's, I'll spend the 24th with my grandfather and father & his girlfriend since my family is quite small and most of them are abroad with their significant others. New Year's I'm planning on taking it easy with one of my favorite girls and just hang out and drink chamagne. I don't like too many (drunk) people at crowded places on nights like that so it's a nice prospect of having a more low-key evening. New Year's resolutions include learning Swedish, but then again I said that last year, too. I hope everyone has a lovely holiday!
&hearts And love? Yeah, what about it? Having no one to watch The Devil's Rejects with kinda sucks, though. But hey, are you my friend yet?
&hearts Oh, look who's in The White House! Much love to Alibagheera for incorporating one of my images into his pretty website.
&hearts How sweet is Crooked Ernie?! He mentioned me in this rap!
"I love dem honey girls with the sweet tattoo's,
And Im sick sick of being alone with out my boo,
Thats true, Im talkin about the SG miss Clio,
She rocks my world even more than Ronnie James Dio,
Foreal, Im trying to make it as an MC,
But Im only inspired by the Crew SG."

Pre-production night from hell! "Nihilist Suicide Pop" quartet Spiritual Front from Italy played tonight and required a shitload of preparation. (Not Arnhem Metal Meeting scale production, but still.) I planned out their trip from Rome to Arnhem in detail (see what a sweet tour manager I am) and picked them up at the station here (I feared they would either get lost or miss their train, whichever would come first, but hey made it on time). I had rented a DVD player and beamer at an art center for their performance, but somehow failed to remember to pick them up! (Must've been the stress of the support band being three hours early, getting a special guitar amp, keyboard stand, and cymbals at the last minute.) Of course they were already closed by then, so trying not to panic ("Fuck! My boss is going to kill me!") I called someone who gave me the number of someone, who in turn gave me the number of someone else who would lend me the beamer and DVD player that were crucial for the show. I jumped in a cab and picked them up, just in time to be installed before doors opened. I saved the day and the band never even knew.
Tomorrow I'm meeting the lovely Dutch ladies, so expect a bunch of pictures sometime next week. Candee and I are going to have feet sex again. Be jealous.
Oh, and have you heard Vagrant Records is putting out a new Alkaline Trio record (and DVD) with B-sides on January 30th? Very fucking smart after they left you for dead. (They signed to V2 recently.) Speaking of Alkaline Trio, keep your eyes peeled for my third set. Or am I not allowed to give that away? Fuck it, just did.
In other news, why are guys so lame? They tell you one thing, they do another.
