Today is Queensday in The Netherlands. I don't really give a fuck though, it's not even that nice outside and I'm not drunk. The only thing cool is that it's also my mother's 25th anniversary living in Amsterdam. (She's originally from San Francisco, California.) I got her some expensive chocolates I know she likes but never buys for herself. Thanks for birthing and raising me here, mom! Instead of going outside and getting shitfaced with a bunch of people dressed in orange (the national color) I'm reading A Father's Story by Lionel Dahmer (depressing but very touching) and cooking lentil soup. Speaking of lentils, The Young Ones is still the best comedy TV show ever made in my opinion.
In case you missed it, I wrote an article about the current state of underground hardcore music that was published on the SG Newswire the other day. If you're interested in that sort of thing, take a minute to check it out here: What We Do Is Secret - Volume One. I'll be writing this column once a month, so feel free to get in touch with anything hardcore-related you think I can use for future editions. It's gotten some really nice responses from people and apparently some of the bands I mentioned tweeted about it, so I'm glad somebody is reading it.

Life is pretty good, I've been taking Pilates and yoga classes 3 times a week which is awesome. I never cared about sports (except for fencing when I was younger), so it's rad to find something physical to do that I don't get bored with after a month. I really like my gym and have some great fitness coaches so that makes it even better. Expect a more toned Clio in the near future, haha. Anyway, here's a picture of Unida and I at Roadburn earlier this month. She's such a sweetheart and I'm happy to call her my friend. I think we were watching Karma To Burn when this was taken.

Last but not least, some shameless self-promotion to point out my latest set in Member Review: Coulisses by the wonderful P_mod. I've been a redhead since last Summer but this is the first set I've shot as a ginger. We shot this backstage at a venue in Amsterdam on his birthday in February. There are worse things to celebrate one's birthday, right? Fun fact: Ginger Spice was always my favorite Spice Girl.
