assuming that you're like me and aren't reading as much as you probably should/would like to because you 'can't find the time' or whatever nonsense excuse you're making up for it (i know how it is). yet of course you have a stack of books accumulated over the past few months that's collecting dust, or you're the type who reads two or more books simultaneously and ends up not finishing them for whatever reason (hello ADD). either way, you'll have to start somewhere if you want to get anywhere in life so you might as well begin with chris leo's feathers like leather. while some books sadly just remain part of said stack of books, others automatically have 'short-cut' status like girls in too short skirts who aren't really on the guest list but bullshit their way in (don't judge me), and this is definitely one of them. in a collection of poems, essays and short stories the author discussed the pros and cons of cheating on his girlfriend (and how the right pair of hips can blow all reasoning out of the water), the demise of mediterranean lobsters civilizations, the Old French and Latin origins of words like 'faggot', and his relationship with the letter 'H'. but if this all sounds too weird for you you can always go back to your stack of novellas.

so i have been back in the netherlands for three weeks now, and although i am trying to keep going to shows to a minimum, i still managed to come out and see my kiwi friend timmy who is currently on tour with swedish indie rockers mando diao. the next day i made a trip to rotterdam to see another friend johnny walker (formerly of the soledad brothers) who was in town with his new band cut in the hill gang. i suggest you go see them if you are into soul, blues and rock'n'roll (think MC5). in between rock gigs and getting the back of my neck tattooed, i also spent some quality time with my grandfather seeing the movie slumdog millionaire, which both of us really liked. in the next few weeks i'm focusing on getting some long overdue work done for school as well as for reflections. the office recently moved to a different city two hours from amsterdam so i'm not there much anymore. however, expect some more newswire articles in the near future (the latest about scion rock fest is up right now), as festival season is coming up in europe and that's typically where i can be found.

I've been on a reading kick lately, mainly because I was getting back into my writing. Luckily, my job has a lot of downtime and I was able to finish up three novels while I was there.

I could make excuses a mile long why I don't read books or read as much as I should. When it comes down to it I feel that I have lost the passion of investing my time trying to get into the book more than being lazy not wanting to read.. or mybe its both lol.

Sounds interesting....Lucky for me I have the perfect time to read.....(and get paid to do it...) what can

trump that besides not having to work at all and having a ton of dough. I have to agree with what you were

talking about hips...(nice hips are awsome!) biggrin

I've had nothing but time lately, so I've been able to read quite a bit. My "To Read" stack never dwindles though, I'm constantly replenishing it for fear of running out of books and having to spend a train ride to the store bored.
Good luck with your school work.

I'm right with you on the reading thing - stack on the table, stack by the bed, multiple books begun, a new edition of Ariel still wrapped since December! But it's always good to discover something new, so thanks for the recommendation biggrin

I have the exact same book problem that you do.. but I'm gonna check out Feather like Leather, it sounds pretty sweet and I'm really missing reading. Thank you for the music & book recommendations! You're the coolest wink

It may not be as deep as the book you suggest. But i suggest everyone check out my favorite book On a Pale Horse. Yeah its just a novel. But i love it. I have read it at least half a dozen times.

Sounds like a good book. I never have time to read lately (unless it's for school), but keep buying books. I just got "The Story of Mathematics: From Babylonian Numerals to Chaos Theory." It's surprisingly good so far, especially as I hate algebra class.

I have a pile of books that I think I'll never read as I didn't buy them my Dad did for me and I just can't find the interest for them at all.

Always have a pile of books around. Will read three or four in as many days then not read anything for a month. I will add your book to the top of my stack, it sounds good.
