Such an odd sensation, to attempt to continually write when you haven't been continually reading. Like tapping an empty fuel tank. I can actually physically feel the vacuum I'm creating. I tug at the space and it tugs back. Nothing is given.

I know how you feel. When I'm not reading, I feel like I have nothing to say.

Most of my writing is movie-based, so I never run out of material... but oh, do I love to read. Anything in particular that stokes your inspiration?

I really like that line, "I tug at the space and it tugs back." Please don't sue me when I use it.

Have you tried The Artist's Way? I have a 7-year streak of writing every single day... Because of that book.

Bollocks. You contain worlds untold. This is just blowing the grit out of the line.

Like writing music for me. Without near 24/7 steeping in others work, the well feels dry.

This doesn't sound like you.
You are the best at analyzing situations and emotions and putting life into words.

How amazing you write this now, because, right along with you, I've been stumbling over a severe case of having nothing to write. Giving it up for a while, I've started reading again. Recently I've started back up with some different writing exercises, mostly poetry, but I think the reading/writing connection is strong.

Fingers crossed that you find success in both ventures.

Oh, and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Nobody ever creates anything from nothing. We're all informed by the sum of our experiences - first-hand and vicarious. Reading helps whittle down an infinite number of possible starting points. smile
