Such an odd sensation, to attempt to continually write when you haven't been continually reading. Like tapping an empty fuel tank. I can actually physically feel the vacuum I'm creating. I tug at the space and it tugs back. Nothing is given.
How amazing you write this now, because, right along with you, I've been stumbling over a severe case of having nothing to write. Giving it up for a while, I've started reading again. Recently I've started back up with some different writing exercises, mostly poetry, but I think the reading/writing connection is strong.
Fingers crossed that you find success in both ventures.
Oh, and have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Nobody ever creates anything from nothing. We're all informed by the sum of our experiences - first-hand and vicarious. Reading helps whittle down an infinite number of possible starting points.
