An Actual Update:

I'm living with my childhood bestie, housesitting with her until June.

In June, we're getting an apartment and I will have MY OWN bedroom for the first time in a year.

I just got a second job serving at a pretty nice restaurant, and get to start saving for school. It doesn't even open until April; I'm super excited to start at a brand new place with a whole brand new staff.

Akron finally transferred 50 of my credits, so I'm starting at Kent in the fall. My intention is anthropology, but if I do that, I need to be sure I can follow through with grad school.

Suddenly, I drink more tea than coffee these days, which I think is a sign of growing up.

I had a month of debilitating headaches which had me bed-or-couch-ridden for half the time, missing work and various appointments, unable to read or write except for small bouts. After two weeks of detective work with the help of a savvy friend, I realized that it was the Sweet & Low I had begun using since staying here. I've never used it before, and apparently I have a terrible reaction to it. Unfortunately, when I didn't know better, I was attempting to alleviate or soothe the pain with coffee or tea -- both sweetened with the culprit.

So I've been better for a week or two now, and haven't stopped reading and writing and spending time in the sun.

I've decided I'm not in a place where I can have a healthy relationship, though admittedly I'm not sure I'll know the "ready" feeling when it comes. But for now, I need to narrow my focus on all of the things upcoming in the next few months and capitalizing at every chance. And even at my best, relationships get in the way of this, as I tend to be come thoroughly engrossed and entangled and put that person before other priorities.

So, no mas.

You are beautiful and this blog makes me happy. It's such a triumphant thing when you figure out the cause of your misery and banish it from your life.

Good news about the job and the transfer as well. Smart girls are the hottest.

Good for you for maintaining such a stern focus. I have trouble doing the same thing when I'm in a relationship. Though I too am getting better.

Sweet and low are the devil! You're not the only one to have such a reaction, some people have worse reactions, epileptic seizures. A doctor, I think in Arizona tried getting all artificial sweeteners banned for their harmful effects, but he was clearly unsuccessful because even his studies where putting people at too great of a risk for him to continue. He concluded that it causes people with epilepsy to have more seizures, and prevent medication from helping them, as well as cause diabetes in others, and severe headaches are the most common effect, not to mention ironic weight gain. His studies weren't enough to convince the FDA however as they wanted him to test thousands of people in a year-2yr long study which he wouldn't do at the risk to their health, and possibly, loss of life. The effects he was noticing happened in weeks for some, and a few months for most.

Anyway, lay off that shit, and good luck with your job and studies. I hope you succeed in everything you put your mind too.

Its good you will soon have your own room again, a place to call your own and have it be your own personal space is important.

I'm glad you sorted your migraines out a bit. I can't do artificial sweeteners either. Hope you stay headache free for a good long while.

I'm drinking more tea these days as well, but it's a sign of me getting an ulcer. I do trump you in age though so perhaps you are correct about tea's maturity.

I'm excited you're going back to school. that's gonna be awesome!
