There are courses for a few weeks at some community colleges. I took one to supplement my culinary courses, but I think it is not really required since personality is more of an asset. You would probably be hired easily since you have interesting eyes that seem to draw a person into conversation. That is my observation at least.

Oh, too bad. I won't be there on Sunday. I'd rather be in the water than amongst the unwashed masses.

well I think a lot of bars will train you, but if you took the classes, I don't think they last long, then you would have an edge on all the other people who are trying to get it, but if they like you then they will hire you.

I went to bartending school years ago. It was like eight weeks or so. I learned a lot and memorized a ton of drink recipes, so that helped. I never actually got a job though. I've learned most places have pretty steady bartenders and if something does open up there's usually a server or bar back already working there just dying to fill the spot for more money. Try it out though, check the want ads and maybe someone will be willing to train you. Good luck!!

its a vicious cycle...you cant attend classes without the money from the job but the job interferes with classes. the degree cant come quick enough
