i wrote a fairly negative and slightly grumpy entry and deleted it. i decided that expelling my frustration to the universe isn't going to help me any. i'm just not having a good day today for various reasons. i need to focus my energy elsewhere for a moment.

so, instead, i am going to tell you about a particularly beautiful moment from yesterday afternoon...

(before you read this, if you have the track almost is nearly always enough by tortoise please take a listen)

i was sitting in my living room with a window wide open due to the heat and the sun. by my side was one of my best friends. we were drinking warm tea and letting the sunshine fill our world. as i listened to her soft voice, i watched the cherry blossoms out of the window. there seemed to be a strong breeze that would whip up at a moment's notice and shake the petals from the branches in waves, riding on the hot spring time air.

the sky was filled with a white shroud, tinted with pink and glittering in the afternoon light. taking it in, slowly, closing my eyes and breathing the smells that only come from warm tea and warm air. as i opened my eyes a flurry of petals blew in through the open window and settled on the furniture. as they moved out of the light it was as if they disintegrated from reality.

it's the moments like these that i treasure and keep close to my heart. every day i feel overwhelmed by the fact that i am lucky to experience the life that i have, and even on a particularly frustrating day like today closing my eyes and reliving these moments reminds me that everything will be okay. we'll all ride the storms like we have many times and we'll come out the other end with a few more tatters and tears but a lot more strength and more heart than the world can contain.

i normally dislike spring, but so far i am really enjoying spring in vancouver.

some other photos from the past week.

she looks so happy in this photo

thank you for all the comments and feedback on Archie's set. I really appreciate it and it's good to know so many people can really see the difference in film and like it.

There is a particular beach on the east coast here that I try to get down to at least once a year, even if just for a day. Once I'm there it seems as if any worries or stress that I have just goes away, and it makes me feel like a completely different person. It's those little moments like you said that make all of the difference.

I remember one of those moments. The sun had gone behind the mountains which were silhouetted by orange. It gradually changed into purple and blue. The moon was out and Venus was right next to it. The fireworks festival was on so there were about 15 little dots in the distance circling downtown. It was great.
