I need advice.
I like someone and I'm trying to figure out whether I should initiate something or not. (I have never asked anyone out before.) My plan thus far has been to just ask him if he would like to hang out sometime, something casual and friendly, but I still haven't found the right moment or more importantly the courage. And of course there is always the fear of rejection. I also don't know him that well, just someone I chat with on a semi-regular account, just someone I have particularly good chemistry with, someone I'd like to see more of. I'm just afraid it might come off a little presumptuous or overbearing (my mother, bless her soul, has done everything to engrained in me that men find it emasculating when women take the reins). The intelligent part of me tells me not to do it. But the romantic part of me tells me to go for it.

In no way do i find it "emasculating when women take the reins" ..... as your mom says. I would find it very appealing if a woman made the first "hey, i kinda like you" move. I say go for it... and keep us posted!

The intelligent part TELLS you to do it. your mother took a granular truth and built her life around it, moving it out of proportions. Tell him. approach him. do your move girl. with all of this fanfare going around, with your fans coming by the hunderds are you still at doubt...?
Be romantic, and go love your self a little.
