With all of this Batman hoopla I'm sure your tired of hearing another person say it's freakin' sweet.

But, deal with it.

'Cause I saw it this weekend, and it rocked.

I think it was great to see "The Killing Joke" version of the Joker's persona finally make it to the big screen.

I've been a huge fan of Alan Moore's work...and his 1980's homage to the Joker's phychotic origins is no exception.

And, this move seems to speak to the same theme as Moore's graphic novel: "One bad day."

(And, I dont' want to say any more in case I'm spoling it for anyone).

This movie has been bringin in huge numbers and has been sold-out entirely in many theaters this past weekend.

That's a rediculou sammount of money this movie is pullilng in...but, let's look at the numbers:

The Dark Knight cost an estimated $180 million dollars to make, and so hasn't broken even yet - by comparison, Burton's Batman only cost $35 million, meaning that it made its cost back more than seven times. In order to beat that record, The Dark Knight would need to gross somewhere in the region of $1285 million dollars before leaving theaters...

That's a pretty steep hill to climb, but The Dark Knight is on it's way.

Others are trying to ride on the Bat's coat tails (or cape-tails as the case may be).

The History Channel is trying to cash in on your lingering Bat-mania from the weekend of the Bat, showing a new documentary called Batman Tech, all about "Batman's amazing array of gadgets."

That's at 9 PM, and it's followed by reruns of Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of the Dark Knight, and Star Wars Tech.

Also you probably have Batman Begins on Blu-ray now, but just in case you don't, FX is showing it from 5 to 8 tonight.

And, my car (his name is Shadowfax...'cause he's white and has horse power) featured in my GTA set is sick. Despite our best efforts to help him (we changed the battery yesterday), I had to take him to the car doctor and he probably needs a new alternator.

So, keep him in your thoughts...so he has a speedy (and cheap) recovery.

Oh, and...in the spare time I don't have this week. I'm going to be editing a new set that metalheadgrrl and I shot on Saturday.

I don't want to give it away yet, but think...1970's Coney Island...and remember, I'm a nerd.

Favourite. Movie. Ever.

Hmmm, I don't think TDK's portrayal of the Joker is anywhere near Moore's and Bolland's depiction of the character in 'The Killing Joke'. The graphic novel tries to give context to the Joker's madness and make him a sympathetic character. In TDK he's an absolute who is fully realized by the time he crosses swords with Batman; there is no rhyme nor reason for his sociopathic actions. As he says, he's an agent of chaos. I think they captured perfectly 'ying yang' theme inherent in the conflict between Batman and the Joker.

We're all pulling for Shadowfax. Car trouble is a bummer. We were sinking a couple hundred a month into Gretchen, my girlfriend's 1989 Wolfsberg edition (made in Germany) limited edition cobalt blue volkswagen cabriolet convertible before we had to make the difficult decision to sell her. It was a sad day. Even I miss that car, and I hated it.

Hey, are you going to Penny Arcade Expo in August? I'll be there.

lol The new set sounds like it's gonna be great Bob. I'm personally not tired of The Darl Knight's hooplah. I just hate that I'm not gonna see until it comes out on DVD. I HAVE started to watch all my old Batman movies again though. Shadowfax is an awesome name for a car. I named mine Gloria. She's a white 85' Trans Am. biggrin She makes me very happy, but I had to take her to the car doctor quite a bit myself. When I get back, I'll be takin her to a different kinda doctor. The kind that make cars more sexy. ^.^ Obviously, I'm not personally doin anythin to help with the oil problem, but I love that care too much. I will keep Shadowfax in my thoughts though hun. I hope that it won't be too expensive. biggrin

Well, the stories he told in the movie are a reference to a line in 'The Killing Joke' in which the Joker said that if he's going to have an origin, he might as well have multiple ones, so that he can choose whichever suited him at the moment.

Nicholson's Joker came nowhere near the 1970s Joker. His campy joker had more in common with the prankster from the 50s and 60s. The original Jerry Robinson Joker, along with Denny O'Neill-Roger Stern era homicidal Joker and 'The Killing Joke' Joker, are the true inspirations for TDK's Joker, I think.
