With all of this Batman hoopla I'm sure your tired of hearing another person say it's freakin' sweet.
But, deal with it.
'Cause I saw it this weekend, and it rocked.
I think it was great to see "The Killing Joke" version of the Joker's persona finally make it to the big screen.
I've been a huge fan of Alan Moore's work...and his 1980's homage to the Joker's phychotic origins is no exception.
And, this move seems to speak to the same theme as Moore's graphic novel: "One bad day."
(And, I dont' want to say any more in case I'm spoling it for anyone).
This movie has been bringin in huge numbers and has been sold-out entirely in many theaters this past weekend.
That's a rediculou sammount of money this movie is pullilng in...but, let's look at the numbers:
The Dark Knight cost an estimated $180 million dollars to make, and so hasn't broken even yet - by comparison, Burton's Batman only cost $35 million, meaning that it made its cost back more than seven times. In order to beat that record, The Dark Knight would need to gross somewhere in the region of $1285 million dollars before leaving theaters...
That's a pretty steep hill to climb, but The Dark Knight is on it's way.
Others are trying to ride on the Bat's coat tails (or cape-tails as the case may be).
The History Channel is trying to cash in on your lingering Bat-mania from the weekend of the Bat, showing a new documentary called Batman Tech, all about "Batman's amazing array of gadgets."
That's at 9 PM, and it's followed by reruns of Batman Unmasked: The Psychology of the Dark Knight, and Star Wars Tech.
Also you probably have Batman Begins on Blu-ray now, but just in case you don't, FX is showing it from 5 to 8 tonight.
And, my car (his name is Shadowfax...'cause he's white and has horse power) featured in my GTA set is sick. Despite our best efforts to help him (we changed the battery yesterday), I had to take him to the car doctor and he probably needs a new alternator.
So, keep him in your thoughts...so he has a speedy (and cheap) recovery.
Oh, and...in the spare time I don't have this week. I'm going to be editing a new set that metalheadgrrl and I shot on Saturday.
I don't want to give it away yet, but think...1970's Coney Island...and remember, I'm a nerd.
