Diablo 3 is already in the hot seat.

And, there isn't even a release day in sight!

Granted, after nine years I'm ready for another sequel...even if Blizzard hasn't changed the layout much.

But, 4000+ fanboys can't be wrong.

Apparently, Diablo is looking too cartoonish and "Warcraft-y" for something with such dark, gothic, and sinister undertones...

Reminds me of the episode of The Mighty Boosh when howard Moon tries to be goth.

This only means one thing:

The final boss battle is going to be between you and Diablo...and your going to have to take a shit on him.

In more realistic news....one of the dudes workign at Fallout seemed to share with the fanboys disgruntled opinion.

In his blog he said:

I must say I am disappointed that Blizzard has stayed on the conservative side in terms of design with their updates to Diablo and Starcraft. Diablo will be interesting since World of Warcraft has a lot of Diablo-like qualities. I have no doubt, however, that they will be incredibly fun, addictive and polished games. Blizzard is the top of the class when it comes to game development - nobody does it better.

That seemed like a solid bit of constructive criticism...apparently we thought wrong.

'Cause Ashley (and I think this is all partly because of that name) has since retracted his comments in favor of a kinder, genteler "I can't wait for World of Starcraft" post.

POON!!!

Don't appologize...you didn't say anything wrong!!!

I could understand if you said something like they're all a bunch of Mono-browed, nanny-shagging, toss-mongers (thanks to Bill Amstell).

But, he didn't he gave them the blog equivalent of a pat of the ass and a "maybe-you-should-wear-a-lower-cut-shirt-next-week" wink.

There's no harm in that right?

In Bob news...

I need your help.

Two things:

I need some ideas for a new set...I've got one really cool idea I'm shooting with metalheadgrrl and couple of crappy ideas...but, I was hoping to shoot something soon if I can find a spark of genius laying around somewhere.

Also, I've been thinking about getting my left sleeve done...I've been thinking about it for a while now. But, I'm still not sure what to get.

I've got a degree in ancient history...so pretty much all of my tattoos have something to do with that and I'd like to keep the theme alive.

I was thinking maybe getting the Greek pantheon...or, because I'm partial to Aphrodite, getting the scene where she rescues Aneas from the Trojan war...

So, if you have any pearls of creativity to share...

Maybe we can make a necklace or something...

As a game developer, sometimes I just wish the fan boys would shut the fuck up and wait until a damn game comes out before passing judgement on it. If they want 'Diablo' a certain way, then get a job with the 'Diablo' team and change it. Yeesh.

I'm a huge fan of Bill Bailey, his Kraftwerk tribute is one of the best parodies, like, ever.

I think I've seen every "never mind the buzzcocks" episode...

I don't know how conservative their updates have been, or should be. There's a wealth of established visual, gameplay, lore, etc. information that they have to keep in line with, at least to a degree. Sure, Diablo III looks a lot like Diablo II, but it also looks a hell of a lot better and brings a lot of interesting new things to the table. Same with StarCraft II. They can't change the formula of these games too much, because they're sequels to phenomenally successful games that have proven that they don't need to be messed with. If millions of people are still playing StarCraft 10 years after its release, and you go to update it with a sequel... it's probably not a good idea to alter anything fundamental.
