Had to come home early. Jo is really sick still with fevers and others symptoms- over a week now. Going to the doctor today back in Seattle to see what is wrong. She's taken all the prescriptive meds we brought with no help. She got better for a day only but then got sick again. Going back to Bolivia in 2 or 3 months.

I am completely over the altitude sickness and Joanna is better from her flu today. She slept over 24 hours and I was just up with a raging headache, roaming around trying to down Coca tea. Anyway we´re better and we´re up early to pack and stow our huge backpacks in the hostel storage. Then we have to find a market for food and alcohol and then grab a bus to the Sacred Valley of the Incas in Urubamba for the Full Moon Party.!

Cusco, Peru

So beautiful here, all cobble stone and ancient. Taking motor bikes up to Machu Picchu tomorrow...was going to hike it but we want to have time to hit Chile now as well. Will be here at The Point hostel until Wednesday and then going to Urubamba for Festival of the DJs Full Moon Party, camping overnight. Coming back Thursday to kayak-river rafting all day to a hot springs. Cusco is really cool.

Went out in Barranca last night and had a lot of fun. Nearly lost my wrist wallet, found it under my chair! phew, close call! Walked around today playing frisbee and taking pictures of unique, colorful doors...they are really beautiful here! Leaving in the morning for Cusco at 6am. Meeting really amazing people. Will upload pictures soon.

Hot sauce is elusive, I almost had to come home!! We´re just hanging out low key today resting up, reading and walking around town. Really nice vibe around here. Booked our flight into Cusco for Monday morning, $100 a piece one way. We´ll spend 3 days there acclimating then hike to Machu Picchu. Taking a bus to Pisco tomorrow to check it out...shopped a little today but have to be careful not to make my pack too heavy...going to have to ditch books along the way but that is ok. Met people from new zealand, australia, austria, ireland and portland. The sweet little orange cat sleeping next to me in the grass awoke and began to sniff and drool all over me obsessively then tried to bite me when I attempted to move away. Finally jumped up a little freaked out by the rabid sweet kitty. Guess he´s taken to humping girls legs around the hostel. Weird peruvian cats man. The food has been a little weird so far....ate a jar of pickles today though. peeeeekle!

i am exhausted and hungry and in Barranca, Peru at The Point Hostel. Traveled ALL DAY AND NIGHT with nowhere to flop my head to sleep. There is no food anywhere at this time of night so I resorted to eating somebody´s leftover boiled potato fragments in the veggie strainerhere at the hostel. I was really hungry man! what a scavenger! they only had one of us booked and so we are in separate rooms for tonight only. there is a beautiful outside courtyard and the beach is right across the street. it was hard to see what is really looks like around here since it was dark when we arrived but i got the impression of adobe, graffitti, abandoned half finished buildings, informal city....moist air...<i´ll write more tomorrow...

One more day til I leave...

and suddenly the sun was up and the whole day was before me
and so
and put up a tent in my front yard and filled it with furry blue and purple pillows
played street frisbee with my good friend buffa
contemplated life
appreciated the upside down baby green view of summer in the trees
spyed on a really cool bird making really cool, realy loud songs...
lamented for just one second the fact that our neighbors politely avoid our lovin outstretched music beltin arms
wrote "gizzards unite!!" in pink crumbly chalk on the sidewalk in front of our house...
inspected and pondered my impressively bruised legs. hmmm.
thought about green bracelet artifacts embracing ancient bones
went on a road trip to visit our good buddy lee and met a lizard that KNOWS. He had a cool tongue and spines and was really huge.
watched some cartoony dogs floppin around on their backs like a furry erasers laughin their fleas off.
listened to Zilla and the Scorpians and the sound of our voices as we pondered life and love.
reflected on some fun....
lived it loved it.

I walked straight off a 5 foot drop yesterday where a porch had always existed!! Fuck, that was crazy, I really hurt my elbow but it could've been a lot worse. I hurt man. I guess somebody had put a little sign up on the door but I was totally not paying attention and actually was looking behind me when I stepped through the door! Crazy experience, I'm telling ya! Lots of people took care of me though and now the door is nailed shut.
