Sorry to hear about your friend's marriage. I actually went through something similar. My ex-wife and I were together for two years, married for one, and right before I got orders to the UK (I'm in the military if you hadn't figured it out), she dropped the ball and told me she no longer wanted anything to do with me or the military. It was pretty sudden and I had no time to react with the upcoming move to my current location. It's been a year now, and I'm still pretty stunned by it.

By the way, you look lovely with both long and short hair. I'm not even sure which I like better.
