I guess this is my mandatory last post in the year 2012, and I must say it’s been a good one. Most of it was routine, going to work, coming home and other stuff, which I won’t bother you with. But then becoming a Suicide Girl happened. Now you might not understand how big this is for me. It is huge, life changing. It wasn’t because that’s something I’ve always dreamed of, even though I’ve always liked SG and what they represent. It wasn’t the title or the attention I got with it. It wasn’t and isn’t about my ego. It’s about being a part of something and feeling like I belong somewhere after feeling lost as hell for the last 5 years.

I moved to SA from Croatia all alone. No friends, no family. True, I met new people and I do have a family here that I’m not related to by blood, but it’s not the same thing. I left everyone behind, and even though we chat via Skype and talk on Facebook, we have drifted apart. People that were and always will be important in my life moved on without me. I don’t blame or resent, I’ve done the same thing. Living here almost on my own has alienated me in a way. And then came SG, a place where I have not only met loads of good friends, but became a part of something bigger. This website and you guys are my virtual home away from home, if that makes sense. You make me laugh and cry and giggle. You are basically what I’ve been missing this whole time. So thank you everyone for being kind and supportive, as well as silly and weird. Thank you for accepting me as one of your own. I don’t know what the next year will bring, but I’m more positive than ever because I’ve got all of you on my side. You know, in case there’s a zombie apocalypse and my sorry ass needs to be saved or I burn another batch of Christmas cookies and I need a better recipe. biggrin

Love you guys!

(My heart sign looks more like a potato, so you also get a not-so-enthusiastic thumb up)

Merry Christmas to all of you who are celebrating today! I hope you spend a beautiful day with your families and that your hearts are as full as your plates and your glasses.

To those of you who are spending Christmas far away from your families, I know how you feel. Stay away from the TV (damn you, Home Alone), spend time with friends if possible and Skype your folks if you can. Tomorrow will be better and if not, there's always the next day. *hugs*

Feel free to brag about the presents you got or gave your loved ones for Christmas, would love to hear all about it. smile

It's that time of the year when we all want to hug our fridges 24/7 and sleep in a bathtub full of cold water. It's hot, it's humid and even sitting on the couch is making me sweat like a nun in a cucumber patch. Got to love summers in subtropical climates...
That's the bad side of our summer, but the good side is that everything is even greener than usual (and this part of South Africa is so very green). Last weekend we went for lunch at a friends' house, and I know that I've posted photos of their place on here before, but I just can't get enough of it. Hands down, it's one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

The view was as amazing as always, just brighter and greener. The gorge looks like an actual jungle this time of the year.

Bugs were out and they were green as well. I'm quite sure Lumo would give these guys a hug sometime between taking hundreds of photos and ooh-ing and aaw-ing. eeek

The puppies were all over the place...

zoom image

Until they found something naughty to do. Then they were very, very quiet.

There were people too. biggrin

And that is all! How are you guys?

So there I was, bragging to everyone about my nice, long holiday and how I’ll do all these cool things, like nothing, zero and absolutely fuck all. Tough luck, I’ve got to go back to work tomorrow. I’ll work for another three days, which really isn’t bad, but my brain has already decided that enough is enough. Oh well, they better not act all shocked when I take my noon nap at the desk. *sulk*

But enough of me bitching, I’ve got some cool news. On Friday, Lumo and I went to a well-known tattoo parlor to get quotes for some new ink. I’m proud to say that I got myself a date - finally. Next year in February I will brave a few hours of feet tattoos. Yes, it will probably be extremely painful. Yes, I will probably cry and yes, Lumo will probably have to sit on me to keep me from bolting out the door halfway through.
Here’s what I’m getting; my left foot will be decorated with Virgin Mary, which will have the word ‘mom’ over it. Here’s the style I like (minus baby Jesus), but it won’t be the same.

zoom image

The right one will have an owl standing on my dad’s coat of arms, with ‘dad’ over it. The owl will have to be all serious-looking, thanks to my dad being anything but cute. Hell, there should probably be a few skulls and a shotgun in its claws. They are all symbolic as my mom is super religious and Catholic, and I consider my dad wise (in Croatia an owl is a symbol of wisdom).

zoom image

zoom image

They won’t be full color because that just wouldn’t fit with the rest of my tattoos, but we will throw a bit of color in. I don’t have any drawings yet and I'm not the most creative person you'll ever meet, so if anyone has any cool ideas, feel free to suggest. smile

The tattoo parlor we went to is very close to the beach, so being the girls that we are, we couldn’t resist a little walk on the sand. Enjoy the view!

I’ve got good news and bad news. The good news is that summer is finally here and I can ditch jackets and jerseys and slip into dresses and skirts. The truth is that I’d sooner walk around naked, what with this heat and humidity, but I’m pretty sure that my boss would complain. A bit. confused

The bad news is that there’s nothing new, so you get one of my random blogs. True, I could wait for something interesting to happen, but I feel guilty if I don’t write something at least once a week. Plus, my kind of interesting would most likely be pictures of my cats devouring flying ants and batting at the Christmas tree ornaments. You’ll still get to see those too, but whatever.

Anyway, I think I have never told you about my dreams. If I have, blame it on the heat and rapidly decreasing number of brain cells and skip this one. I have always had wild, vivid dreams, which more resemble video games than dreams. That’s just one reason why I enjoy sleeping, while the other one comes in the form of an extremely handsome man. A non-existent handsome man, but still.

He started appearing in my dreams when I was about twelve. The dreams were triggered by a random magazine photo of a guy who kind of looked like him, but isn’t him. The recognition was instant and I still remember the confusion I felt at the time. The best words to describe it would be ‘what the fuck’. Just to make this clear, I have never met this man, never seen his photo nor do I know anyone who resembles him. He exists just and only in my dreams.
Dreams of him are often tragic, and never sexual, if that’s what you were thinking. One of us usually dies or is injured, locations are random and unknown to me and we have never talked. I’ll just mention the three most memorable ones.

1) We were in a boat on a lake, next to a tower or a castle. There were trees all around us, and the lake was rather small, so I’m guessing we were in a forest. So there we were, rowing about and not doing much else when all of a sudden he fell over the side of the boat and disappeared under the surface. The water seemed black, and I couldn’t see a thing. I started screaming and that’s when I woke up.

2) In this dream I was the one in trouble. I was lying on a battlefield of some sort, either World War I or American Civil War. I don’t remember any details of my uniform, but I do remember the horse drawn cart that was being used to collect the survivors of the battle. I was alive, but wounded. Someone lifted me off the ground, and into the cart – straight into his arms. And of course, that’s when I woke up.

3) I was standing on a terrace of a Mediterranean style villa, all white marble and deep, blue sea. There was a pod of white dolphins swimming under the cliff that the villa was perched on. He was behind my back, telling me something, but of course I can’t remember a single word. Then the dream switched to the next scene, which was our wedding day. Our parents were there (they looked nothing like my mom and dad, but I knew they were my parental units). There was also a simple cake and a bottle of some kind of spirit in a heavy crystal bottle with the year 1800 engraved on it. That was about it.

Reincarnation, a twin flame, a soul mate, just my imagination, my mom drinking too much schnapps when she was pregnant with me – your guess is as good as mine. I’m the kind of person who likes science and numbers and this is all a bit too far fetched for me. There were more dreams, but most are blurry and I can’t remember much. I do, however, know his voice, his smile, his mannerism. And yes, I'm perfectly aware of the fact that all of this could’ve easily been created by my own mind.

There are two things I know for sure, though. I haven’t met him, at least not in this lifetime, and he’s way too gorgeous for a human being. The only logical explanation is that he’s an alien or a vampire or a really weird, mutated gnome rejected by the predominantly ugly gnome society. Yeah, that totally makes sense. So if you see any of those around, please be a sweetheart and let me know. wink

I know I went a bit MIA since my laptop was stolen, but that’s only because just a few days after the unfortunate event I went for a little trip with Pyke, Kohana, Lumo and Talamia. I also had the pleasure of meeting lovely Jeckyl. I believe that all will be forgiven when you see the result of the trip. Excited is not the right word for what I feel about it. It’s more like ecstatic times 20. wink

We spent three days in a lovely and odd little town called ‘Parys’. I totally milked the name and kept telling people that I’m going to Paris. I must admit, that was mostly because I couldn’t pronounce the name of the place properly, but whatever. The place is tiny, with literally one main road with a few side roads branching off, but it is filled with awesome antique shops. There are literally at least 10 of them. The best one was massive, the size of a warehouse, and filled with all kinds of wonders. I got myself a 4th edition of J.E. Taylor’s ‘Flowers’ from 1906. It’s not worth much, but the cover is really pretty and I just adore the smell of old books.

Besides talking a whole lot, shooting, eating and drinking, we also did a bit of trespassing. We needed a spot to light lanterns on our last evening, so a random field and a bit of sneaking was necessary. We had to get away from the houses, in case any of our lanterns decided to just randomly drop from the sky and set stuff on fire. The photos that Talamia took that night are amazing, but you’ll have to wait a little bit to see those, as my phone’s camera is pretty much useless in the dark. I do, however have a few photos of the same field from early in the morning. It was as beautiful as it was full of cow poop, and it was cold as hell, but beautiful nonetheless.

We also stirred quite a bit of trouble with the local wildlife, what with feeding the birds and watching them fight over bread (bets may or may not have been made), feeding the monkeys and stray cats, but at least they were all fat and happy while we were there. I also suspect that the cats weren’t stray, just greedy little buggers, but they were too cute not to feed.

Oh, and I present you the amazing, incredible Super Lumo!

Anyway, I’m back and I’ve got a laptop that I can use, so things are more or less back to normal. Things are happening again and that’s making me extremely happy.

P.S. Americans, happy belated Thanksgiving! smile

P.P.S. Please go say hello and give a warm welcome to a gorgeous new Croatian hopeful Ahry. She's a total sweetheart and she's got an amazing set coming up in February. wink

I was supposed to write a nice, happy blog today, but no can do. Yesterday while we were at a friends' house, someone broke into our flat and stole my laptop. I basically lost all my music, photos and most importantly, all my work stuff. The fucker who stole it squeezed through the tiniest little window, scared the shit out of the cats (they were still hiding when we came home) and helped themselves to two lovely MacBooks. Luckily, they didn't turn on the lights and notice the iPad that was on a book with a black cover next to one of the laptops. We had the cops here this morning and a detective came by, but I'm sure they'll never find the bastards or the laptops. So rest in peace my dear computer, hopefully I'll replace you with something even better soon. And I hope that the bastard who stole you gets his balls caught on the barbed wire of the next place he tries to rob. *sulk*

November is proving to be a bit of madness - as I suspected it would be, and it will get worse before it gets any better. The weekend was as busy as the work week and I’m dying for a holiday, but that will have to wait till next month. I’m expecting at least one moment of cuckooness before Christmas, so watch this space.

There’s always time for cuddles though, and no animal is safe from my love. On Saturday morning I went to a market which is quite a popular hangout for people with dogs. Wherever you go there are big puppies, small puppies, fuzzy ones and bald ones. Like really bald! Donald Trump without a roadkill on his head kind of bald… surreal

We also found a lady that runs a little rescue centre and she had a few of her animals to show. These all have injuries that prevent them from ever living in the wild, or are too small to be released just yet.

And of course, my favourites – monkeys! There was a troop running around at the local SPCA, so I managed to snap a few pics between book hunting and stuffing my face with food.

Oh, and have I mentioned that pilates did wonders not only for my abs, but for my ass too. Say ‘thank you, Lumo’. biggrin

P.S. Shadow got attacked by one of the new cats. The ginger one came into our garden and kicked her furry ass. She got bitten on the leg and was limping quite badly yesterday. Gave a call to her vet this morning, but he said to just monitor her and bring her straight in if anything seems off. She’s much better now and has stopped limping, but she not interested in going out anymore.

Cat owners, help needed! miao!!

Today I've noticed we've got new neighbors - human and feline ones. Someone moved into the house next door and they've got two lovely BIG cats in their garden, which inconveniently shares a wall with our garden. The problem is that their garden was empty for a long time, so Shadow (my SMALL cat) kind of claimed it a while ago. She spends more time there than in our own garden. She's not only small, but also super territorial and definitely not the friendliest cat you'll ever meet.
I took her out and held her up so she can have a peek over the wall and she threw a hissy fit the same second she spotted one of the new cats next door. She also scratched the shit out of me in the process and wanted to go for the other cat's jugular. Mind you, the other cat is a Siamese twice her size.
I have no idea what to do! She's back inside now and I'm seriously considering turning her into a strictly indoor cat. She'll hate me for it, but I don't see any other solution. The owner of the new cats says they'll be fine, but she doesn't know how aggressive and nuts Shadow is. Besides, she's got nothing to worry about, what with her two oversized kitties that will kick Shadow's furry ass first chance they get. frown

Any advice?

AN UPDATE
Shadow went out as recommended and what happened is - nothing. One big, fat nothing. She went straight into the neighbor's garden and then just sat there. The two new kitties also just sat there and they had a little staring contest. No puffing, hissing. clawing - nothing. surreal
Fuck, I'll be one of those horrible, panicky moms someday. confused
