Hello hello,

Sorry, I'm pretty much in hibernation. My new job keeps me very busy! My computer broke ages ago and so I used my mums to update things on here but it broke too! So I'm not very internet connected at the moment. She might get hers fixed though. Then I will try to write something proper. Or maybe I will get a new one before too long but I must admit I am quite enjoying the freedom. Remember what life was like before the internet?!

Thank you so much for all the nice messages and hopefully I'll get back to you guys properly in the new year.

Love and have a beautiful next few weeks whatever you do x

Playing the piano, eating cake, collecting sea shells, playing chess with my cat, reading James Joyce and anthropomorphising grasshoppers on my days off. And yoga every day but I don't have any pictures of that! Feeling madly in love with Bach's Goldberg Variations (especially played by Gould in '81! I know that may divide opinions :-))

There will never be a better performer of Bach's piano works than Gould. Crappy humming-along and all.

That's a lovely color on you. Have you seen/listened to the open Goldberg Variations? I hadn't really paid much attention to the Goldberg Variations before they came out, but this performance is quite nice. No humming under the breath, unfortunately... smile

We're pretty fond of our boy Glenn here. I imagine you've heard the 1955 version that got him more than a little acclaim along with a certain amount of notoriety from some evil creatures. My other favourite pianist is Artur Schnabel. On first hearing, his playing seemed very clinical and quite emotionless but then the penny dropped and it was all quite spellbinding from there.

It's good to know you're well and the pictures are always appreciated.

It's a pleasure to read you, as always. Wish you the best for the new year, with a little bit impatience to see your net set by the lovely Dwam.
But I understand your feeling about internet. Sometimes, i would like live away from internet and live only with book, tea and cosy house.

Life before the internet? It was way less hasty... less overwhelming and less shallow, less volatile and less stressful smile

If you had to make a task for school, you had to go to the library and search in big dusty registers, fillew with articles and photographs and stuff. You had to actual call someone with a fixed phone, or write a letter. You were more surprised when hearing or reading something...

I'm glad I knew that time smile Internet only arouse when I was 19 or 20.

While traveling it can be a big relief to be 'offline' for a month or so... I have to use internet or internet-bases programs at work, at h one; i sometimes feel my brain is melting smile

I'm glad your new job keeps you running. And it seems that you have time enough for pleasant stuff.

Lovely pictures by the way! The vintage feeling makes it complete smile

Previews look nice too... the Lady of the Lake? smile

Take good care, and I wish you the best during the holidays... and beyond!

Yes, let's talk about Mr. Gould, who played Bach on the piano not a harpsichord or a piano forte. He was a genius and very quirky in what he considered the correct way to play keyboards. A very unique artist but enjoyable if you took his playing while knowing his ideas before hand. Probably smarter than anybody who tried to understand him. Way before his time and lost way too early. Hope you have a great new year.smile
