I was really impressed of what you wrote on dwam's blog....especially concerning the breast complex.

I'm in the same situation, and before suicide I was completely satisfied of my body, but seeing all those boobies goddess I started desiring a new boobs too...

U are one of my role models in this way....
why we have to change ourselves just to satisfy someone's else eye?
some girls say they do it because they wanna feel themselves more feminine, but I think it's just the result of the aesthetical model of beauty...

rock on...
you are beautifulkisskisskiss

HAHAHAHA actually I shouted out that text cause I was, also, catching up with the Second Sex and precisely reading about the childhood chapter !
It depressed me so much, as always with that book (oooh why am I reading it again then ?), then it wakened up some other angry bits I've been carrying since my birthday. When one of my gay friend expressed to me how lost and misunderstanding and kinda shocked he felt to see my relationship with Didier, cause I am a girl. So of course I just smiled and answered "I am not a girl" and he insisted, "Of course you are."

It made me so sad, so so so sad. How can I not be sad to see that even people used to be surrounded by outcasts, gays, discriminated ones, the very ones that would have all the keys and experiences to think a bit further, are not, actually, thinking further. I don't mean I was angry at him.But he made me realise how hurtful it is for me to hear, everyday, these people saying me "Yes you are, a girl" while I try my best to give hints about identity and gender.

Also, you are very kind, I mean, very kin to acceptance and niceness and politeness, although you are so thoughtful ; and also cis-gender, as we already talked a bit about it in Benfeld, therefore I am not surprised that the sexist issues, and furthermore, the gender issues, came to you quite late in your life. Maybe also, you were bathed enough in rampant misogyny, but not a too blatant one, and we all have lots of internalized misogyny - it's really hard to step away and actually see it.

The interesting point, with what you wrote about your breasts (and I do understand), is that, in my case, though I don't identify at all as a woman, I'm really happy with my breasts and actually enjoy them a lot. Strange, isn't it ? I wouldn't mind not having breast, but I don't mind having them. I like to be chestbound but for me it's not the sentiment of obliterating my breasts that makes me happy - it's the feeling I'm obliterating a part of what make people think I'm a woman. It's a pure trick on my external appearance. As well as I never had penis envy, nor a desire to change my genitals or anything. I feel I'm neutral inside - or if not neutral, something in between gender, or both genders, or whatever - and I don't feel some parts are wrong then. I'm lucky, I like my body and my face for being quite androgynous and match enough what I feel I am, so the breasts are just one more weird part of the mix smile

About the human fascination for breasts - I agree with the milking and motherhood part - but I also think it has to do, simply, with the fact it's THE feminine attribute. The more "seeable", the more "external", in a way, as would be the penis for men ; and I guess you noticed the huge, universal, tiresome phallocentrism of the world.

Now that we talk about external attributes of genders and fixations, have I already pointed you out my own fascination for beards, and boobs ? Hahaha.

You wrote some really interesting things in Dwam's blog, some of which I commented on in her blog. You mentioned some comments you received on your last set; I find it disheartening that even this site has a loud minority of members who seem to subscribe to the "bigger=better" theory, and then make unkind comments about models' breasts.

I originally joined this site because the models and the community treat the female form, and the photographing of it, as art. My favorite sets have always been more about the aesthetic or the message, not about who shows the most skin. And that's what makes your sets so memorable: the emphasis on art and communicating a mood or a message. Not to go all fanboy on you, but in spite of the "loud minority", I think the majority of the membership here appreciates you, and other models like you, because of your interesting and introspective posts and discussions. I think that most of us here can see beyond the immediate to the fascinating person that you are. love

I read on Dwam's blog than you read Simone de Beauvoir "second sexe". If i can suggest you, i just read "king kong theory" on Virginie Despentes which is a french feminist and I know, many women are touched by this book. I just read "Mémoire d'une jeune fille rangée" of Simone de Beauvoir, and i'm totaly in love with her style, it's very intersting how she'll became the feminist we know.

I am probably a minority in this view (perhaps a minority of 1...), but I don't like watching videos of the models on the website. I like viewing a series of still photographs best. Somehow each photo seems to just exist, just be, in a moment of time that's frozen forever. As an active observer, I then have infinite time to explore that picture, searching for patterns + meaning + the intent of the model. If I find beauty in either the gestalt of the photo or in smaller pieces of it, I feel I have discovered something special on my own initiative and perception.

On the other hand, when presented with a moving picture or video, I no longer feel so much in control. I feel the model is necessarily leading me to some conclusion with her movements, or pulling my eyes in to some aspect of the set. In short I feel led. I don't feel like an Explorer but an Audience Member. Passive. It's an entirely different experience for me viewing a video versus a photograph.

Of course you are gorgeous in either format. I just wondered if you ever felt the same way. Our brains are so sensitive to the slightest movement that if we see something moving it is analyzed by almost another set of brain modules than a still photo is, plus the movement draws our full attention thereby necessitating less attention to everything else in the frame.

Or maybe my brain works really really slowly and I just need the extra time the photos give me! smile
