We have a wee living tree inside the house and have put little ornaments and lights on it! I enjoy the slightly surreal aspect of that particular ritual. I'm going to plant it in the garden afterwards and I hope the roots won't have been too damaged for it to grow. It's a blue spruce. I hope you're all happy and cosy whatever it is that you do at this time of year. I'm not really fussed about Christmas, it doesn't mean anything to me but I'm happy enough to have a nice dinner with my family and give them presents despite the silly consumer aspect of this period and the irrelevance of religion! Peace and love to all of you and thanks for everything :-) x

I moved back home to help my mother and father out and have found I am actually very content learning about them and appreciating their advice and presence. That has been the greatest gift I have ever received.

This is silly but the line with the 'irrelevance of religion' suddenly made me remember your journal post that one time you left SG when you told everyone you'd found Jesus! Hehe.

And photographing snow is so tricky! I feel like I've tried many years in a row but finally I'm doing something with the photos. Maybe the old ones were all rubbish, I should go back and check. And I get the same feeling when I read your journals. It's funny how many people always tell me our posts are really similar and how we some how sync up sometimes. I suppose they're right!

Hopefully I can come back soon and we can have a nice week again. I was talking about you the other day because I was looking at photos of the wild parts up here in the summer and how untouched and breathtaking they are. We were talking about coming up here to hike the mountains next summer and I was discussing ways I could get you up here too. I'll have to send you the photos and we'll talk about it (; You really wouldn't believe it.

Oh and you'll have to see the couple of photos I've taken of the moss and lichen up here under the snow. It's amazing how it all survives such cold winters really.

Enough rambling. I'm leaving you messages on every forum again ^_^

A cute little tree for a cute little lady smile Wish I could have a live one, as well- but city living makes it impossible. Have a lovely Christmas!

actually I rather like 'that old tyme religion' (not its doctrines, but its rituals), even if they're lifted straight out of the Mithraic cult and commingled with other mystery schools.

But I'm with you on the tree thing. We have a Christmas Fica tree that is a professional indoor tree all year round! Re planting your little spruce. be sure that the ground is warm and soft enough for it (you can even warm it up with an electric blanket; be sure to unlimber all the roots you can - the wider and freer the roots, the more likely it is to recover, and feed and water it as per your nursery's instructions. We have planted many a tree (obviously) and these are things that I've learned over the years. I wait until spring to give it much plant food - no use waking the poor dear up twice during the cold season!

wishing you a wonderful holiday, and, we really should try a bit of correspondence, don't you think!
