Hm, that doesn't sound like a very pleasant trip - next time we should go there together and take long walks, admire the beautiful landscape, and of course go to the little islands where the seals dozing. Btw, the village we were staying in was called Dunvegan, isn't that a nice coincidence? 
If everything works out (uni- and money-wise) I'd like to come again some time in spring maybe....
