i wish i could go to the sea like that... there are beaches here, but its not really the same.
beautiful pictures. and i did check out those videos. really interesting.
ive always wanted to talk to my grandfather about the war, but never really have. i guess i should do that before its too late... my grandmother died 2 years ago and he has started forgetting some stuff... blocking out memories i think. its sad.
It's funny ... I live on a 26 x 14 mile island, some of my regular haunts are just a few blocks away from the coast, and yet I hardly ever go to the sea! The Singapore River is as close to the water as I ever seem to get.
The vagaries of fate are sobering, aren't they? My maternal grandfather was a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Great War, and was fairly lucky to come out of that unscathed ... my father was a child in Italy during WWII and spent the first few years of his life getting bombed and strafed out of one town after another. Where would I be if either of them had been less lucky?
What sort of imaginary compilation are you looking for?

Is it just me or do his videos go really well with Anaal Nathrakh?
I love Douglas Gordon's work! I saw an video installation of his work at the Guggenheim in NYC about 4 years ago and it was amazing. Large screen, just watching a streetscape of a row of houses or something, people moving....just the small moments of daily life....in the center was an open door with staircase going straight up. Then (perhaps a rumble? maybe?) there is this rush of water, a RIVER! flowing down the steps and then flowing OUT every window and orifice of this line of houses. It was as though this street was suddenly transported as a dam in the NIle River. It was very powerful. Ever since, I have wanted to see that one again.
Penguin omelettes and whale steak? Sounds... tasty... hehe

I'm glad you didn't drawn, I'd be very sad (although I probably would never find out)
Anyway, those videos where good, especialy the first but the last with the hand was aufull I didn't understand it at all to be more acurate. And to be honest I didn't read the whole list, just half of it then I got bored
Where did your favorite bands go?
I don't have a list by the way. I'm not good at this.
When you say "concerto for Organ" you mean the organ that they use in huge churches with the pipes and stuf that looks like a piano? Damn this is my favorite music instrument I want to find such music but I can't... I hope youre enjoying it alot
I loved the video of the elephant; against the sterile environment, the elephant seemed very vulnerable and, in a sense, lonely. It was so dislocated. Plus, it getting up from a prone position and doing what looked like a trick made me pretty sad to be honest. One last thought, the positioning of the camera, placed the viewer in a slightly predatorial position. Its an amazing video but I feel quite sad now! Is that an excerpt or the whole piece.
As for the picture of the eye, amazing; but again, there seemed something fearful in its gaze. Maybe that's just me.
As for the comp. I did a DVD with pics one for my friends at home. It covers everything from blues, doom to jazz but check that out if you fancy. It's in my pics section
By the way, hi, I'm new round these parts so I'm just finding my way around.
One time I swam a channel while drunk to get to an island in the lake. I almost drowned, so I learned to stay away from water when I'm drunk too. I bet the sea there is gorgeous. I hope to go one day.
Often it happens also to me to stay waste and dont know where I stay of precise!!!...and I like so much to feel he noise of the sea in the night silenceĀ is relaxant and pacific!
I like the photos,is splendid!!
