Here comes another song about Mexico...

So, two nights ago I hung out with (you guys all remember) L and BigDirty. I seriously thought that it would be a quiet night of video games and a movie, but after we came back from the bar, BigDirty ate this acid jelly, sorta halfway accidentally, and then hilarity ensued. The next morning we found BigDirty in his bed, and he told us that "the dark is complicated". It took us a fucking half hour to get smoothies at Whole Foods, and BigDirty being still sorta tripping helped nothing. I didn't sleep much.

I spent yesterday watching Law & Order on TNT, which is one of my favorite shows. I fucking love it. After that they showed Legally Blonde, which I also watched. You know how everyone is a fucking prick to her in that movie just because she cares about how she looks, and is blonde and bubbly...? It reminded me of this girl who moved from Texas and went to my jr. high when I was in 9th grade. I think her name was Erica, but everyone I knew called her Tex-Ass. She wore a lot of makeup, and tight clothes, and she'd been a cheerleader; she wasn't drop-dead gorgeous or anything but she was pretty enough (I think she would have been prettier without quite so much makeup) and she sat behind me in biology. We talked a lot. She was very, very sweet and I couldn't understand why people said such mean shit about her. They didn't even know her, they just knew that she was a cheerleader from Texas who had big tits and wore tight pants, and it didn't even occur to them that she was a wonderful person with a life, and a family, and a personality, and intersts, and feelings that get hurt just as easily as anyone else's. We weren't fast friends or anything like that, I mean, I don't think I would have ever had her over to my house as our hobbies and other interests were simply too disparate, but we got along well enough. Eventually she fell in with people more of her ilk, the cheerleaders and dance girls, the girls who got their nails done and their hair highlighted together, and had more things in common than she and I. I remember one day in biology she told me that she liked me because I seemed very real, I wasn't faking it like everyone else she'd met, I wasn't pretending to be someone I wasn't, and I wouldn't lie to someone about how I felt about them. We never had a single class together after that, but I always liked her. People hated her because of how she looked, but she was real. She wasn't faking it either.

She had a lovely smile.

Perhaps she will be at my 10 year reunion; I will go just to see.

Happy holidays, you guys.

I hope you're feeling better and the yelling settled down to a dull roar.

Take care.

Merry Xmas, Al.

You're listening to The Refreshments? I love that album. That last track is absolutely heartbreaking.

Doesn't it ever bother you that the L&O prosecutors are so corrupt? I mean, they lie to and manipulate people pretty crassly. It's kind of like "we know he did it, so it's OK to trick him into confessing." That bugs me.

You shaved your head? I missed that *completely*. I've been in and out of the loop. When was that?

Three years ago my best friend, tired of the "male pattern baldness" thing, shaved his head. He found that people's reactions were split about 50/50 between "Lost a bet?" and "Chemo?". Then a year later I'm IN chemo. Then six months later his wife's in chemo. There's a lot of that stuff going around.

That's awesome. Were you doing some non-SG modeling? Or should I not ask?

The "5:00 shadow" and eyebrows tell you that it's not chemo, but most people who haven't been through chemo don't know that.

I went on shaving my head after chemo was over. I liked the look. But with the hair growing back it was a lot of work to keep it smooth. I really envied my buddy - the one I mentioned earlier - because he always had his dome so perfectly trimmed. No shadow. Without thinking, I asked him what his secret was. He looked me dead in the eye and said "I'm bald." Duh.

Happy holidays to you too... damn I haven't seen L in ages (not since the end of May). They make it into jelly now?

On that help request thing, busy or I shouldn't be expecting any kind of answer or response?

It would be interesting to see if she managed to break out of the lipstick cheerleader mold. 10 year reunions usually show the real people behind the masks. That said, HS reunions are silly. Why bother?

did you go to your five year? If your school had one.
mine was last year. I didn't go since I feel I haven't really accomplished anything since highschool. the wives/husbands aloud disclaimer on the invitation was sort of depressing
