So my work told me I didn't have to come in until Thursday, but I get a call yesterday that the counter guy is sick so I come in. Now today I get a call that the counter guy is sick again, so could I please come in. I have to work Thursday through Monday until the end of the month... and I requested Saturdays off! Gosh darn it, it makes me so mad.

Enough of my whining.

No, more of it: I watched The Crow: city of angels last night, and I must say it was really worthless. Slow, boring, and not to mention exactly like the last one... it certainly looked good, though.

I always get all sad when I remember that the SSC lost all it's funding. I guess there was no practical reason to build it except the pursuit of knowledge... which, for *me*, is a perfectly legitimate reason. But I guess for the people it isn't. Sad.

word 'em up, word, word 'em up.
that's a totally legitimate reason for anything, but there's lots of ssc's, are you talking about the one that publishes linux books and stuff (they're in seattle)? the species survival commision? the swedish space corporation? or another one?

and yeah, city of lost angles is like The Crow: redux

Whoah, whoah, whoah... the superconducting supercollider... there can be only one. In Texas.

You ever read about that giant, uhm, thingy out in the desert that produces huge bursts of energy that are byproducts of attempts at fusion? I forget what it's called, where it is, and what it does, exactly...

Some nerd I am.

yeah, way cooler...damnit

but what i don't understand is how they expected to recreate the big bang if cosmological science (them smart folk like sir stevey hawking) has already proved the big bang theory false. (check out the book Masters of time: cosmology at the end of innocence, it kicks ass)

but i agree that "The SSC is the largest and most important science project ever conceived and undertaken by mankind." -Energy and Water Development Appropriation Bill, 102 S. Rpt. 344 (July 27, 1992).

i'm not trying to front or anything (like people that are all about "hey look how much shit i know" 'cause i just learned all this), i've just had nothing to do today so i've just been nerding the fuck out reading stuff)

The big bang theory has not been proven false. That's like saying that photons actually exist. It's like saying the Bohr model is completely wrong. Granted, I have not read what you've read, but the fact that the universe is expanding is fairly steady ground on which to base the idea that something very much *like* the big bang must have happened. I'm not a high-energy physicist (or any sort, for that matter) but the universe starting at one place (um, all places, I guess) and at the beginning of time sounds pretty plausible to me, from what evidence I've seen. Plus, Mr. Hawking told me so.
