I Long to Be
by Yesenia
I am not yours, not lost in you,
Not lost, although I long to be
Lost as a candle lit at noon,
Lost as a snowflake in the sea.
You love me, and I find you still
A spirit beautiful and bright,
Yet I am I, who long to be
Lost as a light is lost in light.
Oh plunge me deep in love -- put out
My senses, leave me deaf and blind,
Swept by the tempest of your love,
A taper in a rushing wind.

City of Gold
by Lunar
Johannesburg / eGoli / City of Gold / Home;
I was born and bred in Johannesburg, founded in 1886 after the discovery of gold and the city's long heritage of mining. These factors attracted a wealth of people from all over Mzanzi, this made Johannesburg a thriving party hub but also one of the most violent cities in the world.It became affectionately known as the City of Gold and like gold it's dirty and gritty at first glance but has undeniable value.
We shot this set in the Central Business District, it's a strange contradiction that the place I have lived all my life can be both so familiar and utterly foreign. Like most cities, Johannesburg is like a living entity that moves and breathes, changes and is both exciting and evil. I love living here, the people and the energy and I have a fascination with all the history, memories and culture that Joburg holds, there is also a dark side to this city, I don't go into the city as a rule and never at night, it's dangerous and crime is rife; with muggings and shootings being an everyday occurrence, however, this set gave me a first hand experience of an area that is only a few minutes away from my house but may as well be another continent. The opening shots are overlooking the Johannesburg train station on the Nelson Mandela Bridge the second part was shot in a hotel in the heart of the city. eGoli I do love you, I hope you enjoy this little glimpse into my City of Gold.
